14 cars and 1 bike (2 Skylines a RX7 an Elise and 10 Subarus in all sorts of flavours), that's what I call a good show.
Well done to everyone who managed to get along today, look forward to meeting you all again in the new year.

Thanks for organising the day Jason, a good turnout. Shame that RX7 disappeared would have loved to see that on our private dragstrip
These meets always end up costing me a fortune when I realise I want to spend all my dosh on more power. Need to leave some cash for my wee boys new 30 metre Scalextric track especially as I have arranged for the next meet to be in my loft. Its even rumoured that Rice Rocket will spray his own Scalextric car metallic silver and stick a foghorn to its rear with superglue. I wonder what he is trying to mimic
Have a good New Year guys

Sorry I missed it guys.
Combination of the cold, toothache and severe liver abuse kept me in my pit till 3 o'clock this afternoon.
Have a good new year all and look forward to the meet at Dave's hoose!!

Cheers for orgainising meet Jason.
Was an excellent choice of venues as the play area meant Skye enjoyed the meet as well. Good meeting everyone and an enjoyable run. The Scallectrix meet sound a good laugh. I'll look out the Jetex Fuel (think you missed that story)
Just leaving Monkton House a joined the road to Largs behind two Traffic cars. Their lane discipline was the worst I have seen in years. Thought these guys should be setting an example to motorists. Even Skye said what were they messing about at !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wish I had had a blank tape in the in-car video at the time, imstead of Skye's than Bob the Buidler. They were sitting at around 65 but every time I went to move into the outside lane (which they sat in for miles) they moved up to 70. Then when I just moved back to the empty inside lane they slowed down to 65.
Anyway they pulled off after a while snd I later found the long lost relatives in Largs, so nice catch up there as well.

It was almost as big a turn out as a Knockhill meet.
Dougster ya wimp, how could you miss such an important event. You would have enjoyed the drag racing.
We could organise a proper meet at the "drag strip" for some time in the spring/summer. Best if it was on a Sunday, no bin lorries. Just need a car at the end to signal the all clear.
Ricey, as soon as I sell one of my laptops I'll buy a set of those rear lights.

I've just spoken to a guy in the pub that works on the bin lorries. I asked him if he thought they were reporting us. He made a quick call on his mobile. It seems they were just hanging around for a bit to watch the informal drag racing.

Guys,
Lets not blow this out of proportion.
All that took place was little bit of standing start practice on a very lightly used road (open, good visibility, and one way), this was carried out in as sensible a manner possible.
To continue / expand this in any form of an organised manner is not clever, and I am cerain the authorities would frown upon it. Just in the off chance that anyone is thinking that the scanner / pmr thing would be a good idea, it is highly illegal to use the information gained whilst listening to one of them things.
Plod would throw the book at anyone organising / taking part in this sort of event and with this in mind, I feel that this public forum is not the place to discuss it.

OK Rant over I'd just like to say a couple of other things
My kids had a great day out, and I think this venue was well suitable for an all family meet, I'm looking forward to gettting everyone together again in the spring.
Thanks for the words of support for organising the day folks, but to be honest it was your day and you organised it. Read back through the thread if you like, you'll notice I've not been around much. It was your day out, and it was a good day too

Have to agree with Jason on this!!!!
It has been said before that the Police read the forums so lets not talk about this anymore until the next meet. Then we can have fun again
Looking forward to the next one, lets hope that it will be dryer so P1 can stay longer
Ricey
ps - Well done jason for organising it

The two Traffic cars that seemd to be in the area at the time were too busy showing me how not too drive on a dual carraigeway (Lane discipline and tailgaiting). Wouldn't have been as bad if it was just for a short stretch of roads but it was for miles and miles on an pretty quiet road. No wonder the driving standards on some of our roads are so bad if thats the example set. Nobody is pefect but they should know better. Rant over
Looking forward to the next meet.

[mod hat off]
Jason's right guys, best keep quiet about this if you want to use that road again the more you go on about it the more chance there is of plod finding out, and remember things typed on this BBS can be used as evidence, though it will be very weak.
[mod hat on]
Best keep this sort of thing as low key as possible, openly posting (and bragging) about drag racing on public roads does nothing but tarnish the already slipping image of Scoobynet, so far the Scotland corner has been largely unaffected by this sort of postings, lets try to keep it this way.
