nope pipping comes with kit, similar to HKS pipping. Although could be made shorter just by rotating turbo

Just to add my own findings / results into the mix as it where.

APS - VERY good / strong core, have picked stones out of it without damage.
Agree with comments about pipework chaffing etc but also agree with Bob Rawle when he states some is down to installation. BUT would have been nice if the instructions warned me of possible places it was going to chaff without finding out for myself
Only thing i don't really like is the route up the passenger side between suspension tower and engine (a nasty little metal pipe) but thats just me.

HKS - good cooler, good pipes BUT quite a soft core in relation to the above, i very much doubt you could pick stones out and have no damage like the above. One other downside is possible rattles or noises from solid pipes rubbing/meeting etc. Was very surprised to find a after hard drive with a friend with metal pipes they weren't even warm to the touch (though obviously sitting still in traffic would be a different story).

Apexi - From what i've read (which could be biased) this scored the highest points in a Japanese magazine review over blitz and hks and was rated the best performer (from a core point of view). Have no personal exprience i can add to that though.

On my own car i've got the APS cooler, thrown whats left of my hole ridden pipes in the bin and am adapting a hks solid pipe kit to fit, hopefully will get the best of both worlds

Why does a big core mean lag? As in noticeable lag? From the amount of air the engine sucks in, it would have to be a serious size
A little TD04 at 1 bar shifts nearly 200 litres a second. Then the maths all get far to complicated for me to do in my head at his time in the evening, but I don't think it'll take too long to pressurise the system! Certainly not compared to the time the turbo takes to get going anyway

Now although I'm running one of the first MD304 turbos made (VF22 based) I didn't notice any increase in lag (not that there is much anyway) when I swapped from the TMIC to the HKS FMIC.

But if you use a TD04 with front mount it is likely to become more laggy as that poor little turbo really can't fill that big volume of core and pipe work.

WRT the pipes, they stay very cold, they suffer from heat soak...but them again so do the cars with silicon hoses...I think it all boils down to what you end up buying...my pipes certainly don't rattle!

Andy, your hoses seem excessively long, compared to my plans

Tim, Phase 2 mods will shorten hoses even further

Harvey, This was an early photo - still has the redundant 5th injector fitted
