Steven, thanks for the pipe in general, came at just the right time. I have looked again, and it appears to be about right as it is, so might fit on with minimal fuss.
New job is developing parts/systems on a new paper handling machine (folding, inserting into envelopes, flyers etc) for Pitney Bowes in Harlow. £9k payrise won't go amiss.
Engine stand will be ordered today, heads off at weekend I think.
Will scope out block splitting too, as I wouldn't mind some better rods in there, then it's all done really, might throw in a stroker crank while I'm at it, but not a geat fan of that idea at the moment, due to the oil rings passing the gudgeon pin blank with the longer stroke.

Steven,
Hope your day improves. Give the neighbour some stick and kick one of your lazy **** trainees into doing some work.
In the meantime....
Enginestand, impact wrench, impact sockets and torque wrench ordered.
MWUAAHHHAHAHAHAH!
And that's all for now.

Yes, uppipe!
Went all quite on the Tim W front, what with dead sloobys and so on. What's the current status with these? Do they need surgery to fit the turbo? Main problem seemed to be the stud holes not being square.

no, it means that someone wants some 850cc injectors for their engine. Not mine however.
Only about 100kg heavier than an impreza wagon, and unlike some other people, I can drive mine without the aid of a nominated driver, that ought to level it out a little.

Paul, as far as I'm aware not all of the up-pipes needed modding, well, David seemd to get on ok as did a few others
As you may have noticed I've lost all interest in everything lately...and it's getting worse...the for sale section will cover it really

Stand arrived on friday, after just 9 days from machine mart. And the 12v impact wrench is well, different.
Nevertheless, got the engine stripped down. Heads are off, water pump off, oil pump etc etc
I went to split the block tonight but split the 12mm 12 point socket instead. Need to get a decent one, halford claim a life-time guarantee on their better tools, time to put it to the test I think.
Instead I stripped the heads completely ready to go to SMG for drilling (for the larger studs). I'm thinking about cams at the moment, Lateral Performance think it's a good idea, my wallet is less convinced!
I'll do some pics before I continue.

As for the socket splitting... I assume you are using a 1/2" drive? You dont seriously expect a 3/8" drive socket not to break. ( including the Snap-On one I bought which broke on about the 3rd bolt )
Both a Snap On or Halfords Professional 1/2" drive will fit inside the waterways, just about.

Stevie,
Yes it was a 3/8" socket, but it was utter "free with 5l of crap oil" sh1te if I remember correctly.
I have since used a new socket, which is still 3/8", but it worked fine. I got 2 from halfords, the 3/8" and 1/2" drive versions, but the 1/2" didn't fit. I tried the 3/8" version on a few engines now, and it's holding up fine, not bad for Halfords (professional range).
I've tidied the garage again, so have all clean benches, I will take some pictures of some rather nice things I have aquired.
Unfortunately, this will not be ready for WL4, the scope of what I'm doing has crept somewhat, something to do with getting a better paying job!
