Craig H...You never read my post properly. It was 0-118 in 13.4

Not sure on the standard 0-100 in the evo but i think its around 11 secs or so. so therefor the 0-118 is about 13-13.5 secs.

Why the question mark?

I have the timing slips if you want them emailed.

Like the first post said, any liars are only lying to themselves.

Terminal speeds are as interesting as the times. I used to be into drag racing big time. Got to the last 4 of the European championships one year.

In theory, the terminal speeds are a good indication of the vehicles power. Even if you're only an average driver, your vehicle will reach similar terminal speeds whereas the elapsed times will vary greatly between different drivers.

Most owners are horrified at the mechanical abuse that is needed to get good times.

I turned up once on a 100% standard Yamaha FZR1000 EXUP and run 10.90 at 130 mph. This was 1000 miles old even on standard crap original tyres. Nitrous took another second off this!

Our quarter miling in Jersey and Guernsey is more interesting. We are allowed to close a section of public road to have races. We run it through a large S bend to make it more fun! . I still hold the record for the highest terminal speed at 146 mph. In Guernsey thats 146 mph around a right hand bend.

A couple of STI scoobs did very well last time running very low 13s in think. I think they took a new class record.

If you fancy a trip over to Jersey next year then let me know and I'll help arrange entries for our 1/4 mile sprints.

Jon44....

You're getting 0-118mph in a std EVO in 13.2 secs........really?

Would've thought it'd be more like 100ish +/-5mph..

Jon,

My only reason to comment, is that, a, std EVOs take around 13secs to rech a 100mph - not 11secs, and b, I knoww how much power you need to get that sort of terminal speed - and it's a lot more than 280hp in our weight cars.

If your car does that, it must be pushing out very very healthy hp!

As to 100-118 in 2 or 2.5 secs - I think that's very unlikely......

Bearing in mind an R1 takes about 5.5 secs to got from 100-130......that would put you up with that.

I assume we're talking mph here?

Exclamation

Fair point Craig mate.

We are talking mph here.

Santa Pod had problems with terminal speeds last year in the left lane and I even seen a Renault 5 Turbo clock an 11.1 second quarter at 78mph or so which was an obvious timing gear cockup.

There was also a red escort RS Turbo which clocked an 11.9 quarter. An obvious timing gear **** up again but the company that owned the car still claimed the time in their adverts! Funny how they never quoted their terminal speed which would have been something stupid.

If you go to Crail or York raceway the timing slips seem to be a lot more favourable than Santa Pod.

The Americans timing gear must be favourable as well as all these films claim 9/10 second quarters which is very very fast.??!!

Do you mean accelerating from a CONSTANT 100 mph 130 mph? 5.5 sounds about right.

However, an R1 would do 0 - 130 in around 10.5 secs. The diff between 0-100 and 0-130 would be less.

Just trying to clarify as as think there may have been some misunderstanding in the above posts. Sorry if I've only added to it!
