Not an M3, but driven an M5, which was simply stunning, but very refined. I must be getting old because I loved it, for out and out pace it was good. I would proably want to supercharge it at some point though

I thought we'd done this subject a while ago. You know the one where you said that you wouldn't ever go front mount and never ever go Evo ![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
Well, IMHO I've ridden/driven quite a few quick cars and then there's the ones that give you the 'oh my god' feeling. The quick cars are the scoobs/evo's with 300-350bhp but the 'oh my god' cars are the cossies and the westies. I think the power you're looking for will have an oval badge or will be a plastic pig. Either that or you'll need a bike.
Arron for one has done the M3 thing and it left him missing something. Now he's back in the fold. An M3 is comfy and fast but it lack the esential scoobyness. The STi7/8 is getting comfier but heavier with it, so if it's trying to be an M3 then it's going in the wrong direction.

Sadly even that would eventually feel slow
I had a 500bhp 800kg track car which done 0 - 100 in under 6 seconds, even that started to feel slow so I added a 250bhp nitrous kit to it ! That kept my interest for a while.... till the bottle emptied ![Frown](images/smilies/frown.gif)
Best go for a car that you 'really' enjoy driving IMHO.......whatever that may be ???

All formula 1 frivers comment that you never get used to their power and after a break of a few weeks getting back in and putting their foot down always gives them a surprise.
Perhaps andy, you should be an F1 driver and get them to change the rules so that you can add nitrous when you get used to 1600bhp/tonne

I'm really worried that no car will ever feel fast enough now

Any good superbike will do 0-100 in six or so. Fastest 0-60 time I've ever seen was 2.3 on an old GSX1100-R. And that was a stock road bike ![EEK!](images/smilies/eek.gif)
When you get back on a bike after a couple of months winter lay-off the performance is truly staggering. But after a few days you get the reverse feeling - your car is just damn slow!
But there's power and there's usable power, which is why I love 4WD. Any fool can drive a Scoob quickly whereas an M3 in the wet is probably not very funny for mere mortals (except on a track).
Same thing with the quickest bike I've ever ridden, a Yam R1. Fab handling on its short wheelbase but, for the same reason, so prone to wheelie it was scary. I could ride my VFR750 more quickly
but the press road testers loved it for the same reason. Mad bast@rds.
Richard.

That's exactly why I only use my scoob as a weekend car, I run around in a 1.8 Cavalier
all week, normalising myself to the 'slowness' Then jump in the scoob on Saturday..... wooooohoooo but by Sunday it's Yawwwwwn and back in the garage !
As you say 0 - 100 in 6 secs is only the same as a bog standard 1000cc bike but without the wheel in the air drama.
