Jza,
No offence mate, all references to muppet in good humour
The 60 to 100 times quoted were not stick it in 4th and see times, but "as fast as it will go through the gears" times.
As such its not on paper, but a realistic reflection of what would happen if you were sitting side by side with a Civic at 60 and went for it as hard as you could go. (presumably in third?) with a change to fourth at the redline.
Bottom line is, however you look at it, the Civic would pull away from the MY01 Scoob. 2 seconds (IIRC) at 100 mph is a fair distance.

VTEC = meant to be revved.
Check this site out people..

look where the peak for torque and bhp is.. they need to be caned!
Check out the vids too.. beauties! Personally I'd prefer the Integra Type-R that I saw in Southend this weekend but the Civic is every bit as good.
P.S I know u are talking bout the new civic, but i prefer the older one and it aint no slower!

I have to agree with JZa
You need to drive the scoob ( And most TurboCharged cars ) Slightly differently. You need to raise the revs higher just a couple of seconds before you fully launch the car.. This gives time for the boost to rise. Do this in 3rd and the car flies.
Ask any rally driver how they had to drive the car before those lurvely ALS systems which make those noises we love so much.
You drive it like a non turbo car and expect full power straight off from lower down the rev range. It aint going to happen.

Going back to Stevep's point, I've had a test drive in an MG ZS 180 and it was reasonably pleasant, good brakes as standard too, and the noise of the V6 is always nice
Regarding turbo lag, my Rover turbo has a small turbo, so it's not massive on power, currently running 11psi and approx 220-225bhp, but the spin up time is very minimal and it picks up from low revs, I often get a hiss from the DV reversing into a parking space! Make's it 'easier' to drive as it just feels more like a bigger engined NA car. It could use AWD though
