Cossie,

You may think that spending £20k+ on a Ford Focus is good value, and you rant and rant about the so called performance figures 0-100 in 15.5secs (mind blowing) and its amazing handling through the "twisties" (as you put it). But you are only kidding yourself, firstly, like most other Fast Fords depreciation will hit the Focus RS very hard, just like it does most other Mainstream branded cars. Secondly, the Focus RS is a bitter disappointment, Ford has made everybody wait for so long and what do they turn up with........a 212 BHP run of the mill "Hot Hatch", and that is all it will ever be! As for value for money well here goes....
1) Civic Type R almost as fast to 100, similar standing quarter, faster in gear times and better braking, oh and its at least £5k cheaper. That means spare cash for some light mods that should see it ease past the Focus....lol

2) Personally I wouldn't buy new, you are always guaranteed to lose money....so whats available for less than £20k, can do 0-60 in less than 6.5 secs, do 0-100 in less than 15.5 secs(lol), the standing quarter in less than 14.9secs (lol), has four pot calipers as a minimum, a decent engine (which sounds as good as it goes!), well............there are plenty of Scooby's, Evo's, Skylines, Intergrale's, early S2000's, the list is endless. But if you want a car with all the above and with style then there is only one car to have.....Fiat Coupe 20V Turbo (Already suffered from depreciation so it's an absolute bargain and still looks better than a Focus)......0-60 in 6secs, 0-100 in 14.2secs, standing quarter in 14.2 secs (all as standard), four pot brembo's, 5 cylinder engine putting out 220BHP as standard with 229lbs of torque, even as standard it more than humbles the Focus (lol).

So you go ahead and invest wisely in your Focus RS, wallow in it's depreciation and then get very very bored by it's average hot hatch performance.

Scooby members...keep reeling him in!!!!!!!!!

And someone got there before me.
I wanted to throw my humble Coupe into the mix to add a little variety to co55ies ranting :-)
Havent tested it against any Scooby's yet but the general idea seems to be the Impreza will win on the sprint but when up to motorway speeds the Coupe comes charging through.

Do your worst.....

Well I am lucky enough to have been in a Focus RS at Bruntinthorpe last week. I have to say what a sexy little number it was. It handled so well. It was not very quick through the straights though. I think in a straight line our humble RS turbo would have opened a can of whoop ***.

Still if I had £20k I would defo have one. Very nice interior too.

Thanks goes to Performance Ford Ben for the ride.

Beccy..

Keep up the good work co55ie

co55ie,
I dont know why you think your car is that damn good, and why you think you're going to 'spank" us on the track and on the road, coz i have an My01 WRX with minimal mods, no how fast could that be i wonder......
maybe 1.5sec quicker to 100mph than ur RS, ye thats right 14.1 sec to 100, now keep telling urself that the RS is better, and maybe someday, after ££££s spent it may just be able to overtake a stationary Scooby!!

ScoobyDoo69

and by the way theres no need to go and insult stavros, he's just trying to make a fair comment!!

What point is stavro trying to make 69 that he an expert his own words What in KEBAB Preperation and speed garage flyers ROFLAMAO.
The RS Focus also blitzed an STi( costing 10k more) and Lotus Elise round a track 69 all cars driven by a racing driver and well documented in various magazines. Most guides quote the car at 14.9 0 - 100 in standard fettle so in reality your scoob would get blitzed round a track by the RS. And as you are aware 69 the RS destroyed the WRX round the top gear track. The WRX being marginally quicker than a 2 litre mondeo. ROFLMAO #

Jules M stop spouting B0ll0x the RS will decimate a Fiatand civic type R. TRY 100 - 0 in 4.1 secs. The RS is acclaimed to be the best FWD car ever built even by clarkson who gave it a mixed review what I find rather strange that if you read the top gear report on the net by the car's second reviewer stated he found it impossible to get the car to torque steer. This is rather contradictory to the review directly above by clarkson.

Stavros people like you make me sick if anyone opens there mouth you cry racism crawl back into the hole you came out of your mothers **** probably you greasy piece of ****e how do you know I am not a cypriot you brainless moron[Edited by co55ie - 11/14/2002 1:55:34 AM]

Talking

I had to register just so I could reply to this posts. I've seem some long rants on car forums over the years, but this one takes the cake.

co55ie, you are very amusing, and a total d1ck!

If you read the entire post, start to finish which may stretch your primary school reading skills to the max co55ie, you will have noticed you have contradicted yourself about 20 times, do you have the memory span of a goldfish.

You like Fords obviously, and I agree the Focus RS is a nice car, but it will always be "just a ford", a car that has it roots firmly in the council estate and a driver called Wayne who can hardly see over the steering wheel and has the seat as far back as it will go to make him long as big and hard as possible. They are common cars, and the only reason you don't see more of them is that these Kev's (like you) tend to write them off at an incredible rate thinking they are Tiff Nedell!

You obviously think Ford make the best cars on earth and that your incredibly shallow views are totally right, as others have said, put you money (McDonalds wages) where your oversized stupid mouth is and bring your Ford shopping trolley along to a Subaru track day where there are Scoobs, Evo's and Skylines and prepare to have the biggest can of whoop *** opened on you that you could ever have imagained. Now let me guess, your not going to reply to this bit of my post, just like you have chosen to ignore any other challenges you have been isued. 0-60,0-100 times count for nothing on a trackday little boy, if you ever get to go on a circuit you will realise things are very different and not like Max Power or Fast Car said they would be at all. It's a very different game than racing your Cosworth around 2 roundabouts on a council estate against a Novadose!

LMAO @ memory like a goldfish.

However, R33, Ford RSs being common? I must see twenty times more scoobs on the road compared to RSs....even scoob owners know they are becoming very common..........

True, true, but I also use the word common in the Pikey sense, not that a focus RS is pikey, but an escort or sierra on the other hand...........

R33 in every test that has been carried out, hundreds so far on tracks by proffesional racing drivers the RS whopped the scoob including the STi version aswell as cars like the Lotus elise. Like it or lump it that is the truth.
And you scoob is about as common as muck. Trade sales have a brand new WRX for 16k LOL why on earth do you think that your scoob is some prestigious brand ITS NOT.
If you have any evidence to prove otherwise post it here. Why on earth do you think I would want to waste my time racing you r mondeo rival it wouldn't be worth the petrol.

Stavro your botfreind told me that your **** is well oiled too

Cossie can you quote some of these sources of information that you keep putting forward.

We should stop being so harsh on you and encourage you to read and write , it can't be easy for someone so obvioulsy retarded as yourself.

Personally I wouldn't crap in your mouth if you were starving to death , you talk enough **** already.

100-0 in 4.1 seconds? Waw. And eh... what about the other figures?

Don't really see the point in storming onto scoobynet and going crazy on promoting the RS. Yes, it's a good car. No, it isn't the best car. And no, in standard trim it's NOT fast. The only thing I was impressed about was fuel economy, which is very okay. Not in terms of day-to-day driving (12l/100km average) but the fact it doesn't drink fuel like hell as soon as you start pushing it.

Don't really get the point of the Focus RS though. I mean, the engine clearly is made to withstand a good amount of turbo pressure more than what it comes with as standard. But what do they do? They make it front wheel drive. That puts a bit of a restriction on terms of drivability/handling as you start upping the power. At least the Cosworth versions of the Sierra and Escort were prepped to take 'some' additional tuning.
