Great to see you on the telly Simon!
Pity they didn't do a full feature on the world record attempt, but maybe that's asking too much of Top Gear.
How did the Autocar sideways challenge differ to the world record attempt at Mira?
Obviously the cars were different, with rear wheel drive requiring a different technique to 4 wheel drive.
The Autocar challenge appeared to be at a faster pace on a less even surface. Was this the case or was it the camera angles distorting my perception of it?
Either way - very well done - you did us proud!

Nice one Simon
Great to see the coverage of MIRA as well - my other half dodn't know what I was getting excited about when I saw the Scoobynet logo on TV (didn't realise it was the same one that is plastered on the windows of my car!)

I personally thought that they should have given you victory by default. I mean with all that extra weight on board, your car obviously produces much higher levels of grip having said that I s'pose once the back end breaks free, think of all that inertia

I think you did damn well to humble some serious names.
Alistair mcrae? he should use sideways driving all the time surely?
Anyhoo, apart from ripping off a "Friends" joke above, you looked cooler than them whilst in the car, and was laughing at how long you took your eyes off the road to talk to the guy.
Nice one.

Nice one Simon! I hope Mr. Needell was taking notes for any future sideways antics, you were so much smoother than him!
Also good to see a few seconds of the world record. Next time you'll have to fit some onboard cameras and make a proper video of it!

LOL
Thanks guys.
In terms of practice..
for the world record, I've spent a lot of time driving Scoobies sideways
For autocar... there was no practice unfortunately. But I've done a lot of testing which requires you to be able to very quickly adapt to different cars, and also to be sensitive to what the car's telling you, so I think that's why myself and Gavin Kershaw did well.
Put either of us behind the wheel of an F1 car and I'm sure it would be a very different story.
All the best
Simon

I think just putting you behind the wheel of an F1 would be a story in itself
Thanks. I now have a vision of an extra large shoehorn with Fosters advertising all over it.
Note to self: cut down on medicin soon
