280 BHP MY01

Shunty>>You cannot add upp figures just like that.
On their own they might give those increases, but there's no way a decatted exhaust would increase an already (stated) increase of 50 bhp with another 25.
There aren't that many AWD dynos here in Sweden, and I know the car runs well, and I've carefully chosen each step - I'm happy with it.
And yes I think almost 280 in a UK engine, with just a Superchips @ 15.5 psi's, and an exhaust sounds a bit "optimistic".
Again, I don't know how much boost it runs stock.

Secret - Well Lane dyno states 278bhp & 240lbs @6150.....now bearing in mind that there was a shoot-out @ Well Lane a couple of months ago by scooby-netters, I assumed these figures to be fairly accurate.
I havn't stated anything about your motor, you stated that 280bhp with those mods sounds optimistic, now I can only tell what mods have been done & what a rolling road gives me on paper.
What more can I say......
I have answered your "comments" with facts, it's not my fault if the cars running 278bhp with £1000 spent now is it.
Lets bear in mind that vmax asked the question "how can I get 280bhp", I ONLY answered that question with my own experience of mods, I am not very technical with cars & don't pretend to be. I have watched this bbs for about 6-8 months now & this is exactly why I only recently joined & posted, due to this type of treatment.
Why do you have to DISPUTE everything on this board, my comments were merely to help a guy who wishes to mod his motor.
This is a very good bbs by the way, & I have found it very useful in the past.

my girlfriend had a my95, superchipped, full decatted exhaust, ran at 17psi.
never had it dynoed, but it ran like a dream, never a problem, and was mentally quick, much more so than the my00ppp that i had.0-60 it was probably a tad quicker than the sti5 i had too, but only just.
it sometimes made me wonder why i shelled out 2k on a ppp

cheers spudgun....(I was getting a bit "hot under the collar")
I must admit I had already booked my car in for a superchip, then asked for advice (yeah I know, wrong way round )
The advice was go for a Link, Motech etc, I probably would do that now if I'd have known before, I would just have had to wait a few more months to get the cash sorted.
I am very happy with the results up to now anyway with the superchip. The extra power is very, very noticable, pulls stronger after 4000rpm than between 2500-4000.
I must get a boost gauge fitted, then I'll find I'm probably running 25psi

Where have I been desputing everything on this board?
All I'm saying 15.5 psi's and a decatted zorst = 280 hp in a UK engine....yeah...right...
BUT THEN AGAIN - FFS, I don't know how much boost an MY96 runs stock.
I think you may find the boost is a bit higher than 15.5 psi's if you decide to put a boost gauge on it (try >20).

hi shunty take it easy mate . i think you may have miss understood jerry. rolling road vary a lot between themselves anyway. they are trying to estimate engine power but some may over read and some may under read in doing so. the most i have seen superchip produce at the rolling road that i use for example is around 260bhp and same amount of torque at higher boost level than 15.5psi.
to go back to your question regarding my mods, they go as follow
full decat exhaust from turbo back
ported and gas flowed exhaust manifolds
vf23 turbo
link ecu
front mounted aps intercooler
running 1.35 bar which is slightly over 20psi
power @ flywheel 320bp 315 lb/ft that was before i ported the manifold so it should be slightly higher maybe 10bhp or so.

PPP will take the car to 245BHP Right. How can I take it to 280BHP and make it launch earlier down the rev range.
(posted by V-max)
well i'm looking for near on 300bhp when i get my equal length manifold
At PE's rollers my de-catted UK300 PPP got 260bhp with 250ib/ft. Now with more miles and colder conditions at PE in November along with the manifold i would like to think i can make 280bhp easily

You cannot believe one single rolling road read out. I am going to take mine on two different ones just for the hell of it. I don't think it is that important to find out what mine is running. It keeps up with a P1 does that mean it is near 280? I don't really care!
Just my 2ps worth, but you need to dyno it at several RR's in order to find out what your car might not is pushing out.
And reading through this, why aren't you answering SAM's queastion about what an MY96 stock output is?
Michelle.

to get back to the subject and answer your question here is my suggestions
port and flow the exhaust manifold, this is a true stealth mod no one will be able to tell, not even the dealers
get yourself link ecu and with that you should be able to get 280bhp no problem.
i know the warranty thing, you can actually remove the link ecu in around 15mins max. so you do that every time to take to the dealers for a service. voal'a

Sam E - ok mate /rant_mode_disabled
Michelle - My original post did only state "what it said on the tin", just because other people have spent 4 times as much on engine mods & mine is 278bhp, that's not my problem, I know mine could blow any time get's what ya pays fore
Mind you - fair comment about the "try a few rolling roads, different results etc"
I think my underlying point was that I havn't come into this thread with a "mines bigger than yours" - mind you MINE is BIGGER than yours Michelle
Michelle, I am v,v,happy with the new performance of my motor & if fred.bloggs makes a post stating that he has 298bhp on his motor with the same mods as me then good luck to him.
Michelle - I was going to say "handbags @ dawn" to ya, but if my wifes handbag weight is anything to go by I wouldn't stand a chance.
I did put "IMHO" + loads of smilies in my threads......what more can I do??

Oh heck!!! I didn't mean to upset anyone!!! Sorry Shunty
I just read through and saw that SAM was continuously asking for the stock MY96 figures and thought it strange no one answered!!!!
RE the RR why is everone so obsessed with taking one RR figure? I know someones BHP that varied from 230 through to 290!!!! On different RR with fairly the same temp and smae fuel!!! Mad eh?
Shunty I don't doubt that yours is bigger than mine for one second hehehe
Anyway, didn't mean to have a go
Forgiven?

michelle - you know what us guys are like, we have to measure everything that's why we all put a huge exhaust on.......hang on a minute, the wifes laughing in the front room now
If it's got button's I'll buy it
Yeah, I suppose I'm as bad as the next guy.
Sam E- that's right mate, you bring it down to a technical level why don't you....I was just starting to enjoy the banter
shunty (going to find loads of things with buttons to press now, see you all in the muppet forum tomorow)

Wow you guys have been busy. I have not been on the BBS for the past few days.
From what I can see from the posts so far is that different opinons exist on the methods involved. So far I like the sound of what Sam is suggesting.

Ok so you guys fit lots of bits and pieces to get to a unknown result, why not go straight to a APS 210KW KIT. Guarantee 210KW (i,e 285 bhp) fitted by NAM.
With a secondary upgrade available to 240kw, I let you work out the bhp for yourself if you can handle it.
