Flamer Kits.........
Had mine fitted at SCC - can't rate their service highly enough - good job guys!
However, still don't have flames
Richard, still got that speedo problem, despite the earthing mod: I'm convinced there's something dodgy with the km/h to mph convertor)
But will persevere!
Step 1) Use Octane NF booster and Optimax
2) Try widening the spark gap
3) Try a multispark plug
4) Err...apart from that, I don't know! De-cat centre pipe, but have to retain the cat on the primary turbo - a new downpipe on the second turbo won't help will it?
Yup, I'm now on a mission - my Family battlebus will spit fire!

Hmmm Flamer kits....
I love the idea of a small flame between gear changes (suggestion of mods and high BHP), but this looks like it has gone way too far.
This is "Max Power" like now, and it will soon taint scooby drivers with another brush of tar which will get us all pulled over more and more.
Sound like a killjoy?
I think this is bad news for car modifiers - making us appear like louts driving flame throwers around.
I dont want to be "flamed" for this, just accept my view.

Hey Rich -
Unfortunately all the advice I've heard is that the small cat on the primary turbo has to stay to prevent over-speeding. Looking at all the down-pipe replacements, no-one makes on which gets rid of the cat, so I reckon it's advice well heeded. When the second Turbo kicks in, at 4K, there is no restriction, so I should see something then. Will increase spark gap tomorrow.
Oh - Naive question: NF 6RON booster: How much per tank?
Cheers

Jamesn,
I know exactly what you're trying to say, but unfortunately, the kit does look good, and work well with most turbocharged cars.
The problem lies with those who drive relatively pathetic little cars, and want flames to impress 15 year old girls and make them drop their underwear.
Believe me, I put up with the phonecalls all day long.
e.g ......
Customer: "Can I have one of your flamer kits please?"
Me: "What car's it for?"
Customer: "Nova SR....."
Me: "Sorry mate, wont work etc, only for turbo cars etc"
Customer: "Well how much to turbocharge my car?"
I **** you not - I get about 10 of those type calls a day.
However, when three of us had the flamer kits on our cossies way back about three years ago, they'd come about because one of them used to flame anyway. It was suggested that it would make a good little bit of fun to have the ability to flame on the over-run, and the kit was born. We ran around with them on for a while, until people started asking about them, and then it just went mental.
Look, at the end of the day, the flamer kit is a bit of fun. The Max P brigade types aren't using our kit at all. The latest versions that have NOTHING to do with us are ones that either inject NOS into the exhaust, or ignite butane supplied from a cannister in the boot!
I wouldn't worry too much about the flamer kit being too Max P - I'd worry about the scooby

By making the gap smaller can you adjust how large the flames get produced? I'd love one but wouldn't want it to produce flames that went above the spoiler.
well people, I have the kit for some times and was happy with it and others telling me how cool it looks and blablabla,
but it was yesterday when I've seen it with my own eyes for the 1st time (thanks Mikey) and FOOOOOOOKING HELL

I didn't know that it's that good
and who ever will say that it's a cheap way to do a max power thingy on my car ---- yeeeeeeeeeeeah right, wasn't cheap and any more max power thingies like this one I'll be happy to put on

Can anyone post a few pics of how the fitting/spark plug looks in the exhaust.
How obvious is it during daylight hours???
Is the'housing' for the spark plug hidden by the rear bumper??
Cheers in advance

I take it the 1st picture was taken while the engine was switched off???
Can anyone show a few more 'revealing piccies' of what it looks like from underneath an around the exhaust??
I'm just a bit concerened that it'll stick out like a sore thumb (While the engine is switche off, parked in a car park - I know it'll be obvious while switched on and driving in the dark!!
Cheers in advance

Phil,
When it is initially fitted, it stands out a little because of the white ceramic part of the spark plug and also because the exhaust area tends to be clean where you have wiped it/put finger prints etc on it. After a few miles though, everything gets sooty and unless you know what to look for or that it's there, it's very difficult to see.
People will hear it before seeing it as it makes a buzzing/humming noise when it is on.
Hope that helps
