Scoob = Joke
i've never owned a car where people give me the thumbs up, kids stop and stare and go, 'what a nice motor' and other drivers of fast japanese cars such as skylines, etc. stop and say hello. my MY02 wrx PPP is the best car i've ever owned and is the furthest from a joke of any car i've had.
The joke's on the people that 'don't know' !!!!

Blimey all i said is everytime I turn on the telly or open a mag some journo plonker is having a laugh at subaru's expense. A year ago it was a totally different story. The muppetes on driven were almost in fits of laughter the other day when talking about the bug eye and new shape one clarkson reckoned it would be better if you kicked the front in mag articles ranging from yesterdays hero to a ninties icon etc These are not my own views at all allthough I do think that they have lost the plot a bit of recent.
I don't despise Subaru's at all but would not buy one if I wanted one at the moment. Yes I do drive a cossie and will also be purchasing an EVO 6 shortly . I do not hate japenese cars and have seriously considered purchasing a scoob instead of the evo.

It seems that Subaru is fast becoming the butt of all automotive jokes A new kind of Skoda.
Its all about opinions co55ie and you are entitled to yours. I mean a friend of mine wanted to buy a co55ie that was going cheap but his wife said what do you want to buy an old sierra that gypos drive? but hey that was just her take on it. I personally like 'em, I went from a sapphy cos to an STI to a new WRX.

The 01 car was designed for Americans. Hence it's overweight and ugly. It's overweight cos it probably has to be able to withstand an impact from a redneck in his 18 wheeler and a Greyhound bus at 55mph
It's probably s0old in america as having 300hp and I bet they believe it too
New car looks better but nowadays 220hp or even 280hp is nothing special - reckon the day of the rally specials is coming to an end

But after this recent mess up aern't many people going to loose alot of faith in the marque. I can't see the new model selling to well either especially if they hike the price back up, Its not as if subaru have got an awful lot else in their line up to fall back on is it. The insurance problems need to be resloved ( this is what killed the escos) and so do the servicing and running costs. Many dealers are turning their back on the marque too.
I don't think it will long before you see secondhand prices of the original design cars being more than that of the newer bug eyed wonders secondhand price

I used to own a Ford, in fact I've owned many Ford's and they were pretty rubbish, but its a Ford and you know that you will get poor customer service and the like so theres no surprises.
I brought a Subaru because of there bullet proof super reliable cars and the wonderful customer service that you receive and all those JD power surveys wins and great talk etc. Well I haven’t experienced any of these and I'm gutted and will never buy a Subaru again.

have to admit my toss up was between an escort cossie and a wrx. Going on book values i would have bought a scort, but even though parkers etc value them at 6-7k every ****er seems to sell them for 14, i personally would rather spend the other 7 modifying a scooby and thats what im gonna do.
No way id pay 14k for a ford, specially not one that was 20k new. Escort cossies are way overpriced and sierras are ... well... minicabs with big spoilers lol

I agree the escos is way overpriced and in reality its a saff 4 by 4 with different body panels. I have even seen a t34 verson with low miles going for way above 20k and it sold. Cars are worth what people are prepared to pay for them and to be honest book prices are a waste of time.
Haha...every time you open an automotive magazine...well you surely have a lot of choice; it's either Top Gear or Car (or Max Power)..... the same two that were all crazy over japanese car's 3 or 4 years ago now do everything to turn them down......how come?? maybe to repair the damage they have done to the "rip-off" european car market, especially in the UK as everybody went to buy an import....
Sorry but it's so obvious that you can almost see what these 2 magazines write between the lines

Despite the dodgy start, Co55ie has made some valid points on here, and made them well.
Subaru UK do need to address the problem of insurance, and the dealers closing thing is getting up my back!

I would be dissapointed to see Subaru decline because they have got all the other car manufacturesrs back on there toes. In the early part of the ninties with the demise of the cosworth there wasn't really much else going was there ? Then along came the impreza and now look at the array on offer.
I think Subaru would do them selves a huge favour if they did a more ltd run on the next impreza use the Ferrari Moto allways build one less than you can sell and then you allways have a demand and both prices and perception are kept high.
