Make it the 23rd Novermber, and you could take part in the karting on the Saturday afternoon (south of Edinburgh, twin engined karts, 930m outdoor track). Stop overnight for beers and a curry (or whatever), do the drive the next day (meeting up with those who can't make it up on the Saturday), and then a leisurely drive home again

190 miles

Hi john, I've been keeping an eye on your little trip North, but thought you had 1st Dec in mind , which was definately no good.
But if you make it 24th Nov then i'll tag along, and promise
to drive CAREFULLY

The B7009 is a good road into Scotland , but i'd prefer not to go there as it wasn't very welcoming last time

Dec 8th might be possible also, but it's Xmas party time that weekend

Finally got my new brakes too , so they need a good test

I actually went on the first North West meets Scotland trip in August 99 in my WRX and the RB5 i have now also went with it's previous owner, ahhhh coincidence or what?
I'm not sure if it was because that was my first meet, but it was a fantastic day with some superb roads.

BRING IT ON..........

Back to the beginning..190 miles.. I think i speak for everyone in saying i hope you've found some Optimax/S.Unleaded up there coz we'll need it.

Davy
from WRX to RB5 thanks to Scottish roads

Rusty - YHM about the karting

Quick summary for everyone else.

Team Endurance Karting at www.raceland.co.uk, on the 930m outdoor track, using the twin engined pro-karts capable of nearly 70mph down the main straight! It's a two hour race in team of 4 drivers (you can either enter a team or as an individual - we'll make up teams as well). There is also 30 minutes practice session as well.

Team tactics as well as speed are important, with drivers changes, fuel stops and strategy all playing a big part.

We also have a unique handicap system based on average team weight and driver experience, to help even things out, and keep the racing close towards the end

Can no longer do the 8/12, can we say 24/11? If so only 3 1/2 weeks to go!!! Any ideas on a meeting time, regardless of which day it ends up on.

LOOKS LIKE 24th november then

looks like 24th NOVEMBER is going to be the best for everyone i will confirm the meeting point soon but it is just off the motorway (M6)!
1030 meet up and departures start at 1050
(fast group)
1055 (faster)

1100 (screw loose group)

i will have optimax at 30 miles ist catch up point where you must all fill up !!! as there is nothing else where we are RAIDING a mix of fast roads and lots of twistys with virtually no traffic . there is 4 main pit stops with some of the best views ever at point 3 where your passengers can change underware if neccessary!!
hills towns sheep and pheasants, forests and lakes roman ruins and jumps (but no tunnels) we will have a function room to ourselves for the bar meal at my local watering hole for 2-3 pm
with plenty safe parking please fetch your cameras , then we will be visiting a local dealer for a tour around his garage.if anyone is interested

Flossy, don't worry about the 1.8, it's not what you have got - it's what you do with it

Rusty/JohnS - Could one of you e-mail me details of the go-karting session. If it's where I think it is, I've actually been there and done it before (long story!). Trust me, you won't want to be doing much driving afterwards !

Finances allowing, I might be able to come along on this. Put me down as a MAYBE

Hi Lordy

Confirmed 24th Nov. in Diary....New Mods severely nobbled by Micropets, Harry Potter, barbie, Game boy advance, X-Box, Bikes, mobile phones, Christmas Tree from Strawberry Farm near Penrith (life or death around here) etc..

Which "local dealer" is that then?? Petch or Stan Palmer, if the latter I need to speak to Ian Armstrong.

LOL

In muppets, there are posting competions where you just post and post (usually rubbish ) in a race to get the first post of a new page

LordHarding has posted at the top of pages 2, 3 & 4 and I have got pages 5 - 8. Don't know who got page one though
