Snapped driveshafts eh?
Not surprising really considering that fabulous 6R4 engine (what a sound!) when they bolted a couple of turbos to it and put it in the Jaguar XJ220, made it the fastest road car until Maclaren came along with their F1 ...
Glad to see so many Scooby enthusiasts have fond memeories of their old 80s MG saloons ... probably the most under-rated cars in the history of motoring ...

god this does bring back memories my mum had a turbo meastro which was so much fun to drive I was so hooked on it went and bought my self 1 then a year later went to moto build to buy a montego turbo pushing out 350 bhp it was yellow and i habe to say i nearly sh*t myself when i drove it as i was only 22 at the time and thought to myself it was to quick for me i have to say even to this day i wish i had brought it as it was such a wolf in sheeps clothing. But as i recall it went to belgium and from what i gather it is stil going strong
least i still have the memories of driving it for a couple of hours

418!! Super stuff, almost twice as much as my humble little T16 turbo. He has indeed done everything to it though. Regarding the head gaskets, yes they are a weak point and a triple layer super duper gasket has been developed which is better, but I imagine Andy will have gone to far greater measures than that to sort it out

Mook,
Andy still uses the Rover 'klinger' tri-laminate steel headgasket As sold in your local dealer
Headgaskets dont blow, they just weep due to the high pressure oil feed being in a badly designed position. The std gaskets break down at the edge leaving a tiny cap for the oil to seep out.
