Ladies & Gentlemen
May I respectfully suggest serious consideration be given to a career in politics. The capacity to report a fiasco as an unqualified success appears to be key criteria for a seat in the Commons
As I recall of the 15 completed cars we turned out 13 most of these arrived too late for the first race. Driver allocation was akin to a round of musical chairs, the cars entered the arena devoid of race numbers and were in the main unpainted and lacking graphics.
I would like to make it clear that this is in no way reflects the efforts of a small team of people who worked tirelessly during the preceding days to prepare these cars and sort transport. We were dogged by a succession of broken promises and one week before the race we had two cars at the “Banger Factory” and one needed a day’s work to have any chance of completing the event! So, whilst I am still disappointed, on reflection I suppose it was quite an achievement.
More importantly, because I misinterpreted the spec everyone was deprived of his or her second race and I have been working to arrange a further round of the Nick Wild Challenge.
Unfortunately we have no chance of another run at Belle Vue this year and lack of floodlights at Buxton Raceway limit our options, but if we can field around 10 cars we will be permitted to run a pre event race there on Sunday 20th.
Given the journey time shuttling cars will be impossible so anyone considering driving will need a suitable trailer & tow truck.
As for Mr F, Buxton are unaware of the gentlemanly conduct of the SIDC and will not permit such huge disparities in size and cc. Therefore if you’d care to remove the smoke machine and prepare it for an outing with the big boys at Belle Vue on the 27th let me know.

Barry, you are being way to hard on yourself. Everyone, and i mean everyone thought it was a fantastic achievement to get this race to happen.
I have just watched the video of the race, it's funny as hell as the commentator keeps saying stuff like "for a non contact race there seems to be a lot of contact"
LOL
We put on a great show, raised money for charity (where do i send the cheque mate), entertained the crowds and remembered Nick in a way he would have enjoyed. To me that is a 100% success.
Dont be disapointed about it, it's something you should be proud of, i know i couldnt have pulled it off!
As to the 27th, i would love to have a go at that but i dont see how i could at the moment, i dont have anywhere i could prep the car and store it, or a means to get it there on a sunday morning. You see, you managed to do that with 15 cars, thats a big achievement!

Time to put your (sponsorship) money where your mouth is

I'm happy to lend a hand, not that it means too much. Three months ago I knew practically nothing about this so called sport, and little has changed!
Don't think we could do the 27th though, not without a trip to the divorce court!
just thought id put my 2 penneth in, it was a wicked night and very, VERY funny indeed...
you are all absoloute stars, so much so that me and avi are gonna build one next time, no messing, with the combined weight (me) and techie (avi) ratio we will be victorious...

well done and congrats on a great charitable event.

Is this the same man that drove through the night, and most of the EU, in a mobile swimming pool. Grabbed breakfast fixed the fuel tank generally fettled the Westie and then ran rings round the ringers
(yeh, right
)
In response to some of the requests to know how much was raised, I can only speak for myself, but I collected £210.
Initially I had got £201, but after E-Mailing the picture of me next to my car at the event around my works, I raised a little more.
Of the £210 total, I raised £70 of that from the attendees of my most recent Northen Meet (No 7), by carrying a bucket around as I handed out routes. Subtle it aint, but it did the business.
I'm fortunate in working for a large company there are more people to tap up for donations.
Thanks to all the people that donated.
Cheers MTR

Well done Martin - thats the one thing I miss about working for a large company - sponsorship. I've found it quite hard with the tight gets I work with, to get any money.
Oh yes, I work for myself

Tried asking the plants but they wouldn't cough up

Have a quiet word with the MD.
Tell him he can chuck in a nice fat wad as it's tax deductable and then tell hm you need a new Scoob as your current motor doesn't project the right image to potential clients

Fantastic, just watched it

The amount of "Oh Dears" is hilarious

Think it is fair to say it was me that shoved Neil into the fence, though only after his spirited attack on the back of my Granada/****

i have every race on the tape, and no, i am not hosting all that lot.
Best bit is the Grandad going sideways down the straight with the metro pushing it allong by its door, very funny! Oh, and the mad attack of the metro on the grandads bum. I think my rear shocks had been romoved too! Looks like i am out at sea!
And the Cavalier he keeps mentioning is my Carlton! What a muppet.

Now now children, it's the taking part that counts
I've watched that clip a number of times and really must get the video as it justifies wide screen viewing.
Some thinly disguised lunges from our heroes didn't come off and I don't think any fair play medals are on offer!
Neil from last on the grid was an absolute animal in that Metro.
Engage gear, fully depress accelerator, disengage brain seemed to be the strategy

Well I'm not sure that I shall let you rough boys (and girls) play with my toys anymore.
I caught up with Andy, driver of the Nissan Sunny, at lunchtime. After being generally bullied by you lot and harpooned by Neil in the Metro by the end of the evening he wasn't feeling too good.
Things hadn't improved and so Tuesday saw him at A&E. The diagnosis was one possibly two broken ribs!!
So that's Scoobnetters interptetation of light contact racing
