I wouuldnt want main beam in HID anyway as it takes a while to get up to full strength!

Thanks guys questions answered. Looks like dips are a definite goer then.

Still thinking about main beam. I thought the same about the delay but I had Scoobysports HID spotlights on my WRX and they were fine, the delay while they spark up wasn't a problem (now we know dip stays on....). I guess this might have been as I also had the conventional main beam on. Will think further, I still have until 15th October.

Question

Autolamps: "Moving the arc of the lamp".
Go on then, I admit I'm mystified. HOW does it move the arc? You can't mean there's a physical movement in the lamp unit, surely?
Sorry if this is a stupid question, or the answer is a trade secret, or summat.:

That doesnt make sense, they told me that they had 6000K in stock and wouldnt have any 4000k until 20th oct

We offered Jason a 6000K kit at the same price as he has put together the group buy, and he preferred the 4100K, we will have sold all 6000K that were in stock once your kit is shipped it seems that suddenly everyone wants H1 6000K and normally we have enough reserve stock to cover for sudden increases, however not so this time and production will not have any 6000K lamps ready until 20th October, so yes we are able to ship you a kit with H1 6000K as this is the last pair of lamps we have from stock but as we are closed on Friday for 2 weeks please make sure you return your Order confirmation fax early tomorrow to enable us to make and ship your order, before we leave.

Not a prob mate, thought it was a good idea, UPS have delivered mine today so guess what I will be doing tonight

Thats 6 kits sold so far guys, if we get past 20 we will all get another 5% refund, but I dont think thats likely

Gotta wait for my kit, but could you post and let us know how easy it was to put in, Or if anyone already has installed?
I always wonder if these instructions are as they say on the tin, or you find the h'lamps too big or loom doesn't stretch.

They are fairly easy to fit, I did mine last night, took about 1.5 hours, they are mental, lights everything up, and when you get back in the car again it amaizes you every time

Done, 1hr 32mins

Nothing too hard, just remember it's,

black + green (original wiring to the lamp), the green(+ve) goes to the new looms yellow(relay+ve) and the black (gnd) just needs terminating (not req).

Then the ballast red+black go straight to the battery, always work with the negative terminal of the battery disconnected.

I mounted 1 ballast on the side of the battery itself, it was the only flat surface near to the lamp, and the other one I removed the black plastic air intake (2x10mm bolts) and put the ballast over and behind the brake master cylinder thingy, it kinda got a flat on it plus I put a fat cable tie around it just to make sure it doesn't work loose.

The only tricky bit are the lamps themselves and the grommit attached to them, when you take out the old lamps, the round black cover has the old green+black wires going into it with a small grommet, you will need to enlarge the hole so that the bigger hid lamp grommits fit.

Also make sure you have the hid lamps in straight/flush before you clip them back in, have seen them in p1ssed before on numerous cars and its an **** to have to take them out again.

Tools required -

Soldering iron + solder - (solder the green + yellow wires together unless you have some male+female spade clips)

Heatshrink - There is heatshrink in the kit, but will need some thinner heatshrink for when you join green+yellow together or at worst some insulating tape.

Snippers/crimps - green+yellow joints

10mm socket+ratchet or spanner - battery terminals + air intake

Cable ties - 4 in the kit, but more required as you route wiring around the front of the car.

Think thats about it, looking forward to a thrash across country tonight.
