Baseball cap wearing tossers with windows wound down, elbow out the window. Its a toss up between hearing their sad pop fart exhaust note with their £350 BB on a £250 1.0L Nova or their sad rap music which can be heard from over 1/2 mile away.

Every town / city has them. Just got to deal with it by laughing at them. I even saw one parked up revving the engine, music still on the go. Told him that i was going to take a photo of him and show him in 5 years just how much of a C*NT he looked (if he managed to live that long)

admittedly scalidge, you are right about the terrible rap they play. however there is some seriously good uk hip hop at the moment.

i also agree with the photograph statement, as looking back at the ferrari yellow 957cc fiesta i owned at 17, i have a tendancy to cringe, but then i smile. all part o growing up, trouble is that alot of the little ******* don't grow up above their current mental age, which is in all seriousness about 15.

Agree, i'm not old enough not to appreciate any music and indeed the rap played by these exuberant youths is indeed good stuff.

Spoke to my wifes cousin whos lad is developing nicely into a spotty ****** with a desire to enhance his fiat punto in the said manner. He told me quote "you have to have the window down so that you can hear the engine noise over the music" un-quote. This is amazing but at least i know now that they wear baseball caps to keep their heads warm whilst the window is down.

Glad to say that i was never one of these **** and that i had a 1.6GL Sierra (in black) as my 1st motor, and i've got the photos to prove it (thank God)

when all is said and done, i enjoyed being one of those *****.

however now, i do not enjoy remembering.

upon fresh modifying of the fest-er my father used to call me (and still does) "stupid boy pike!"

a few unpleasant experiences with some, how should i say? "largish gentlemen" was enough to sort me out!

character buiding you know!

Ahhhhhhhhhhh, those were the days

I've never been a tailgater myself, i find it quite pointless. I do however take great amusement from people doing it to me. I like to take it steady to the next straight where they can safely overtake.......................... drop a cog and good bye, please call again
I do find middle aged women are very guilty of this quite a lot!

I've had this problem from Renault Clio's - no idea why? I was beginning to think they came with the Impreza as a standard, but seemingly other people own them.?

As for tailgaters, let them past, they are only speeding to their death anyway. Either that, let them pass and do it to them for 30 seconds - let them know how it feels, then back off and relax.

I usually find other people in modded cars, usually little boys, race past so I can hear their 1) exhaust 2) dump valve 3) squealing tyres. I'm very impressed with this macho display. I much prefer the traffic light scenario - sitting, revving and they taking off like a 79 yr old nun in a fiat punto - whilst they scream away thinking they are invincible. Sometimes though, just sometimes I accelerate and overtake as they try to cut in front of me - then I pull in a sit there like an L-driver.

too old in the tooth now for driving like a boy racer, prefer cruising at my own rate and drving well for the sake of all Scooby owners around my area. Repuation is all.

What is it with Fiat Punto GT's ? These seem to be my bane in life and especially one guy who sits right on my **** scowling every time he sees me on the road. He's old enuff to know better. I'm not into racing but he's got a comeuppance waiting for him....just the once should be enough to send him away with his tail between his legs. 130bhp? Pooftah

There is probably a post on a Porsche or Ferarri BBS at this very moment that goes like this

Sick of being tailgated by a tw@t in one of those vile cheap and nasty Jap rally car look-a-likes.

Whilst at the lights in my 355 minding my own business when one of those Jap rally-a-like boxes pulled up next to me, you know the sort, big plastic (not even carbon fibre) spoler and an exhaust you could use as a dustbin. anyway he floors it from the lights and i completly destroy him over a 1/2 mile or so, why do these saddo's have to try to prove their manliness in these 20K noddy cars. they would be better off saving up for a proper car

---------------------------------------------------------

People who throw stones an all that, **** me you would think that some people where never young or did this stuff, i bet none of us ever speed park illegally ro do a u-turn where we should not.

Shed comments, it is easy when we are diving our Scoobs etc, My first car was a Mk3 Cortina and it was shed as this was all i could afford, Maybe i am alone and all the other people on here have had new cars since the day they turned 17!

Nice to se eiltism is alive and well and flourising on here!

I'm pretty sick of middle aged guys in Company Audi/BMW/Mercs sitting on my bootlid on the motorway.

I don't mind just pulling over and letting them past if they want to travel faster but i p1555es me off when they put me and my passengers in danger because they wanna go fast (can't they see the bright yellow "baby on board" sign in the back window??.

Been toying with an idea for a while now... I thought about fitting an additional washer bottle to the back of the car with the nozzle pointing backwards (to point towards the car behind), and filling the bottle with paint stripper. By the time they realised that their paint and window seals were ruined i'd be miles away.

It wouldn't do anything to stop them tailgating me but i'd get a great deal of satisfaction from it

cheers,

Marty

Cool

What an intolerant bunch.
They only want you to show off and isn't that why you spent all that money on dustbin sized exhausts?
sounds like they're handing you the perfect opportunity to feed you fragile egos...
Rev away.

Rather that then run a key down the side of it, when you where young did you ever look at a car and think - i wish i had one of those.

Take it as a compliment - or perhaps you really prefer the buzz of them asking you eh

what you regard as ego boosting, IMHO, might not apply to most of the scooby drivers.

I bought and drive a scoob for it's performance not to show boat.

So, u can rev away all u want when encouraged and do not assume that everyone enjoys the same. Isn't is sad to need a car to boost your ego?

LOL Paul!

Perhaps u might be right in asking rather than keying!

Always happy to accept a compliment on the car but call me paranoid, after 3 attempted theft in republic of mancunia, i have lost most of my trust in friendly banter from young kids (esp those with base ball caps!)

but anyhow, can't bear the thought of leaving the scoob for any other car though. upgarding to type r or ra next week!

Black Knight

see your point re thiefts, it really does depend on the circumstances and how threatened you feel, In your situation i recon i would do the same, shame that it has come to that. I try to trae peole as i find them although no-one has ever tried to nick my car so that is easy for me to say.

There where some youngish lads, around six of them say 15-17y/o at my local Alldays shop asked me about the car and asked me to rev it up so they could hear it, olbiged as they seemed interested and asked a lot of questions, usual stuff, how fast does it go, 0-60, etc. i was happy to talk to them about it as they seemed genuinely interested - also as the shop is only 500yds (yes a lazy b@stard) from the house i'd rather stay on good terms, paid off i often see them and they alway say hi and want to talk about cars.

However if they had tried to nick it i would have done my best to hospitalise as many as possible

Cheers Paul,

Appreciate the comments BUT YOU LAZY GIT!!!! Welcome to, as my girlfriend outs it, the "Drive anywhere regardless of how close it may be" gang.

Guilty to the environment but any chance of getting the car out...
will not be missed.

Rather than hijacking this thread further, I shall post a new question until the moderators move it to the muppet forum.

I get tailgated all the time, and it really is laughable!. I get it alot from the start of my journey to the finish, anything from Vectra GSI's (ha ha - nice car!) and the most popular one are the normal boring 3 series BMs (I have an M3).

Everything that has been said is SOOO true, they get past to give you a blast of their Peco Big Bore, and 16" TSW alloys - yeah, nice mate - just wait 5 years and you will look back and realise what a **** you were!

Whoever said that we all used to do it is right, maybe not all of use but Ive had modded cars since I started driving and alot of them on reflection where absolute sheds!

I find a quick switch on of the rear fogs does the trick as they are part of the rear cluster and look like brake lights!, seing them brake and **** themselves is too funny! - does that make me as bad as them??

Whats even funnier is that these people are more than likely on 3rd party insurance, I would like to know what it would cost to repair my M3 after driving up the back of it!, although Iam sure the idiot that did it wont be getting insured on a 900cc Fiat Panda after that!!!

Edited to say - I cant belive people argue on these message boards!, Iam gonna beat you up blah blah blah, grow up boys!, have you any idea how many people read these messages and laugh at your sadness?, I have no wish to get invloved and I mean no personal slating here but it really is very sad, and makes true what people say about the internet and message boards!

Lifes to short fella's!!
