Official times for a Supra are 4.9 seconds to 60 so they are pretty quick. A Scoobie Type R in standard trim is quicker but I know the Supra's really go after 60. It was a close call for me between a Supra and the Scoobie but I went for the Scoobie in the end as I wanted 4WD drive and I love my 0-60 and 0-100's but the Supra is still an awesome weapon. Just check out these clips of this Jun Supra drifting. Unbelievable

Box Hill is in Surrey - very famous for its Sunday morning bike meets - also well known by the police, so if you do intend to go there, be careful around the dual carrigeways and associated roads as it has been known for one or two speed traps to appear I used to live nearby and regularily goto the JAp car meets - always nice cars there.

It is about a mile north of Dorking, off the A24 - fairly easy to find.

I had a bit of fun a while back in my old MY99 UK turbo (totally standard) against a Supra from about 60-ish to just under 140 (private road etc) at which point we started running out of road. I am not for one second suggesting my car was a Supra beater, but what are the various different spec Supras? I think some of the imports are non-turbo. Is that correct?

just been directed to this board/ thread by a m8

very nice to see the right spirit

i got blown away years ago by a nutter in a bog standard 1300 mk 2 astra. at the time i was running one of the early Jap turbos - a mitsi lancer 2000 turbo. it was chipped up to about the 200 bhp mark and had a blower off cloin blower racing which was low lag and made a big difference to the driveability yet this nutter blew me away by overtaking on the outside of blind bends etc. no doubt he would have spent the next 6 months bragging about it. its nice to see when people can have good time without taking silly risks and without resorting to dubious hand signals etc

Appologise lads I didn't realise they were quite so quick 0-60. I figured - having seen Adam K trying to put the power down in his supra at Crail - that it was very likely the Supra would spin the rears and the Impreza would briefly wave bye bye.

What are the stats, bhp, lbft, 0-100mph and 30-70mph for an out the box 3.0 twin-turbo supra with the auto-box?

Cant post during the day so I'll try and answer what I've just read through!!

Jimi, I live just round the corner from Sainsburys in London Colney (where we went our seperate ways last night!).

350bhp is just a guess on my current power. I hate guessing a power figure and I could be totally wrong!, I'm going to get it on the rollers soon so I can say for definate what it has.

Mine is also and Auto, I dont think I mentioned that earlier. The Japs 'claim' 280bhp because thats all they are aloud to go upto in their country by law. I've heard of stock Jap spec Supra's coming into the country and recording over 320bhp, so who knows!!!

I'll try and find a link as to whats happening this Sat at Box Hill.

Barry

Question

I thought the 276bhp thing was a gentleman's agreement as opposed to actual law, am I wrong?

I thought it was law in jap, but I've been know to be wrong once or twice.!
Aren't the Jap RX7's and Skylines also 280(ish)?

There will be a few jap motors leaving South Mimms at 1pm on sat for Box Hill, so if you want to join the convoy, just get there 10 mins early or so.

Hi Guys just popped in to read the thread as recommended by Barry on mkivSupra.net.

I agree with all the comments about the sensible discussion, it is refreshing to see such friendly attitudes. The MKIV in stock form is very quick, but tail happy, when modified the rear can be a real hand full. On the wet twisty bits you guys probably have it.

I have a few mates with Scooby’s, nice cars and they have my respect. Hope to see some of you at a meet some time.

What a refreshing thread Shame I can't make the Box Hill meet, share some fun with kindred spirits and no sniping. That's how it should be. Have a good day, guys.

Cheers,

Richard.
