Seriously, what did you expect when you come to a Scooby forum saying you can beat scoobys in your Nova?
Did you really expect anything else? Go to a cossie forum and do the same thing. You'll get the same reaction. We don't have our heads up our asses mate, you'd get the same reaction anywhere.

Most subarus are not that fast in a straight line, but are a very good all rounder, that is nice to drive. While I am fond of the sleeper approach too, lets face it, a Nova is still a bit of **** no matter how fast it goes. If you are going for the sleeper approach, at least build it into something good, instead of a turd. A crap car, will always be a crap car, and Novas are CRAP. SOme people just dont realize how bad their cars are, because they have never driven anything else, thats why they have the perception that their car is so good. Novas dont handle, look crap, are crap to drive, have crap interiors. What more is there to say??? Tinny bits of turd

Ok, standard cars only, what is faster 0-100mph:
Scooby or a Nova, gee let me think!!
Scooby or Cossie, close but the revs mag article suggested the scooby was fractionally quicker
Scooby or RS turbo or any of the other ford sheds....need I go on.
Your poxy little Nova has been around for ages. Give the scooby 10 more years and then you'll see some huge power ones kicking around. People will be able to pick them up for £1500 and chuck £5000 at them or more for modding. Bearing in mind they are waaaaaaaaay better than Nova's etc out the box how will you compete when they can stuff pretty much any car on the road in a straight line, through the twisties, in the wet, on the snow, on gravel and so on.
Any muppet can stick a calibra turbo engine into a nova. Its not hard and its not expensive. I'll race you......in the rain.....or round the corners or in any circumstance other than the only thing your car seems to be good at 60-100+ acceleration.
Oh and by the way if I really wanted to beat your 60-100+ acceleration I'd buy my VTS back, supercharge it and rip your *** out!! If your going to make a super hot-hatch start with a good one in the first place mate. Nova.....ha ha ha!!
Finally, what can you do now to make your car faster??? Nothing, more power would probably make it slower as you start to struggle for traction in all gears. Some scoobs I know of are running 11.8 second 1/4 miles with just 400bhp. What happens in 10 years time when such cars have been further developed to run 600bhp?? It'll hump you in every circumstance always, not that such cars would currently get beaten by you anyway!!
Sorry for reacting like this fellow SN'ers but I'm getting really hacked off with the massive influx of jerks from other forums with nothing more amusing in life to sit at a computer and cause agro. I'm going to start seriously abusing Ford, Nova, etc sites with multiple postings of pish!

look,my car produces over 300bhp and weighs nearly half what a scooby does AND i don't have the transmission losses of a 4x4 car.
so why shouldn't i think my car out performs most scoobys???
it also handles prety well with its coilovers, yes i do get torque steer but i have learned to drive the car.
oh, and i don't think a supercharged saxo is going to get anywhere near me!

Spooky that Nova boy. On another section here you said your car has 253bhp.
Either you've had it modded in the last hour or you're a fooking LIAR!
The 2nd is my favourite.
Everyone: look on the cold weather thread on other marques.

Well I know of a supercharged VTS that matches your times and the owner has got further mods planned yet.
Of course your car can beat most scooby's its modified to ****! When it started life all those years ago scooby's would have (if they had been around) pi55ed all over it. If you spent - proportionately - the same amount of money on the likes of a wrx ra it would waste your car. I can't understand why people like you build a fast car and then state the all scooby's are slow?!?! HELLO!!! Standard for standard scooby's are still bloody quick cars and can be easily modified for useful gains. I've had my car for a few months and haven't been close to matched let alone beaten by another car and mines isn't particularly fast and I would race anything in the right conditions. It'll happen one day no doubt but its hardly going to be every other day is it!

Look, anyone who says a nova is a "class" car is blind lol!
Your putting 300bhp though a fwd car and your getting 12.3 sec 1/4 mile times lol!
You also have NO2 on your car lol!!
Now let me tell you a story
Once upon a time there was this kid (ok he was about 18) and he had a nogo, ooooooops sorry, nova, he transplanted a V6 engine into his car (the 2.5ltr) and it was pushing out 200bhp.....
This car was undrivable in the first 3 gears, main reason is torque steer and the fact that it couldnt put the power down on the tarmac, now, 1/4 mile times in this car were around 15-16 seconds (due to not being able to put the power down) but from 4th gear upwards it was very quick (and it also handled like a bag of rusty vauxhall )
The moral of this story, nova's were not designed with big power in mind, full stop (thus the reason they bend chassis etc) and if Vauxhall wanted them to have a 2ltr turbo engine dont you think they would have put one in there in the first place?
Now off to bed with you and dont do naughty things over those women in laxpower
Tony

What an excellent thread!
Most of the Scooby owners do have their ***** shoved so far up their own ***** they can hardly breathe. And most of you are very narrow minded!
A Nova can be made to be as launchable and nearly as able round the twisties as an Impreza. It'd involve a lot of work, and probably a lot of money, but it can be done ( probably for less cash than just buying a UK Impreza turbo. )It'd involve a Calibra turbo engine, its 4wd sustem and its 6speed 'box. Now you have a Nova with about 210bhp, all wheel drive capability and a nice 'box. Stick some 15s on it, with some Yokos, coil overs and things like a roll cage and strut brace to tighten things up a bit. All this, if you did it yourself, would come to what? £7000? Of course, if you wanted to buy an Impreza turbo, you'd be looking at what, at least £10,000 for a good'un? Oh dear, still £3000 more than a Nova that goes better, handles well, grips well and gets a lot of respect ( obviously not from everyone ). But what's this I hear you cry, ' yeah but spend £7000 modifying an Impreza..', go do it then, nobody is stopping you. But then you have a car that stands you in at about £17,000, and still isn't significantly faster than the Nova mentioned above.

jesus christ you ppl really take the biscuit dont you
std this vs std that ffs!!!
std cars are toss, thats why we mod them no? and any manufacturer makes cars with more left in them, some more than others, do you think cosworth built their engines with 204 or 227 hp target in mind, NO!! do you understand the principles of warranties, you lot of all ppl whould understand warranties cos you all moan about them that much. dunno why tho, are you just paranoid o=r are your cars unreliable and expensive to fix a std cosworth std is a 300 hp engine wound down to almost 200, why do you think it has a turbo capable of reliably running 18psi all day long (my mate ran one at 24psi held for 45000 before it blew) yet it left the factory set to 9psi? why do you think it leaves the factory with injectors capable of fuelling for 16psi? why does it have an intercooler capable of holding charge temps well under the ignition retard loop as std (does this at 15psi too for that matter)?
get a grip!
corners, twisties, wet, thats is ALL you ever talk about.
alex's car was catching and would have passed the scoob, dont be so blinkered and frankly dumb and think he wasnt trying, you understand the rivalry between the 2 marques, youve only got to read this thread to see that it is rife as ever. accept that on this occasion the scooby would have got overtaken. its no big deal ffs.
and by the way i watched a stage 1 rwd saph absolutely nail a 250hp scoob round donnington at rs national day this year (phil.a off rsoc was the scooby owner). now forgive my supidity here but im sure the track had a mix of corners and straights in it, the scoob lost over all, full stop. again this is no big deal, well it aint to me but somehow i think some of you lot may have trouble accepting it LOL

Nova you still dont get it do you?
We are not ar5ed if your car is faster, its still a shed, its no where near as capable as a subaru, its no where near as good as a subaru, its not got the status of a subaru, basically its not a subaru and this is a subaru board
Do you really think your nova is quick?
In Australia there are 2 WRX's that have sub 10 sec 1/4 mile times, there are cars on here that have sub 12 sec 1/4 mile times, you have had to modify your car extensively to even get your car into our performance region, we on the other hand are already there and getting more power out of our cars without changing the engine.
Also you say that the v6 is a heavy engine, yup it is, the thing is is that having a heavy engine over your front wheels means you have weight there, weight will help with the torque steer but it still will drive like cr@p, the same as any 2ltr turbo'd nova and even the 2ltr n/a nova's can have problems putting the power down, so for all the work you have done (lots of reading max power by the looks as you havnt said anything about what you have done to your car except shove an engine in it) you have proved nothing to anyone here
Rich,
nice idea about the 4x4 from a calibra, trouble is that its a useless bit of kit as its unreliable. (id prefer like that guy did to the 4x4 mini, you know the cossie one ) a proper job rather than a bodge job....
Tony
PS, my head isnt up me **** its just that i enjoy my car for what it is but you wont see me going on to Porsche boards saying ive outpaced one of their cars, whats the point? (even though my car may be faster than some of them ) there will always be one quicker than mine......

Goddammit, now I realize, I should have kept my Vauxhall Tigra, put a Calibra engine in it with its 4*4 drive and 6 speed gearbox and coils and springs and stabilisators and and and.
Sh*t, what a mistake I made by buying the Impreza and I thought it was a cheap car for this level of performance.....
Or buy the Tigra GT/R with 180 bhp with twice the cost of an Impreza...
Nos Nova I count on you to give me some good advice next time.
Ohh yeah sorry guys but I drove a Tigra before, but honestly I didn't have it for long...

Oh so you don't think you're funny?
Question : Do you also shout like a braindead in your car when you're trying to overtake another car and have this xenophobic attitude?
I still shudder thinking about this video, I never thought this would actually exists on this world... (the behaviour not the fact that he tried to overtake an Impreza) "ok let's go", "hahah get you **** out of the woooaaaeey" ggghhhhhhhhhh brrrrrrrrrrr....
And then these guys surely felt hyper cool when saying that....
Now, please somebody tell me that these guys just turned 18 or else I have to believe that there's a problem....
What concerns you Nos Nova, be a good fella and go play with the other kids on the block. I'm sure someday your car will be starring in Fast&Furious 5....

Alber, you take the micky out of Novas yet you owned a Tigra? Nuff said, funny guy. ( By the way, whatever you do to a Tigra, it's still a girls' / tarts' / hairdressers' car )
I think the reason guys like Alex come on here, is like Wolfie said, because they see the 'Preza as a benchmark in performance, to beat one is a great achievement to them, because they have 'lesser' cars. Whereas if you guys went to a Porker forum and went on about how you wasted some 911 in your Impreza, they're going to be like 'so what?' as the Impreza has similar levels of performance to them anyway. But coming to an Impreza forum saying your Escort cab ( que stiffled laughter ) beat an Impreza is to rub it in, purely because of the achievement that a drop top 'Scort beat an Impreza.
Hmm, I think that makes sense.

Rich and Mini, please stop posting - I have huge respect for mini drivers and I don't want to loose that on the basis of someone like you that appears to have lowered yourself to the Nova/cossie level! You did make one interesting point though about eating 911's. There are plenty of scoobs on hear that can hump 911's and M3's, etc but there is no way in hell that 99% of those owners would consider going on to their sites and giving abuse.
If I beat a 911 it's cause I've moded my car to be faster. His is still a porsche, still got better build quality, value, toys, image and so on. They would just laugh me off the site and quite ******* right!!!
#209
No, I'd like to carry on posting if that's ok with you. Just because I'm interested in all sorts of cars, I don't think that's reason enough for you to lose respect for Mini owners or whatever. I've tried to put valid points across, for both sides, but the likes of Alber really get on my nerves. I only said about the Porker forum thing because Tony mentioned that no one on here would go on about thrashing Porsches on a Porsche forum, I tried explaining my view on why you probably wouldn't do that.
So what exactly have I said wrong enough for you to want me to stop posting?

Most of the Scooby owners do have their ***** shoved so far up their own ***** they can hardly breathe. And most of you are very narrow minded!
I'm sorry I over-reacted at you a little it's just another newbie having a bit of a go was the final straw.
My head isn't up my own *** and most of the scooby owners I know/have met are far from narrow minded. Most of them have very good knowledge of and respect for other vehicles.
Actually tonight was the first time my head has been briefly up my own ***!! I've never had this 'king of the performance road' complex the non-scooby owners go on about until now!! I went out for a drive and was just looking for someone to thrash, I tried to bait a 3000GT thingy (can't remember its full name 3.0l thing if I remember) into a race. I just wanted to thrash him off the lights so I could rub it in at that next set - What a ***** I became eh! I was so pi55ed off with people slagging the scooby off that I wanted to waste another performance car for my own self-satisfaction. He wasn't even interested and I gave up and did my own thing. For a moment there I was no better than the chumps in the video all the way back on page 1
I'm sorry but winning and losing isn't what its all about!! Of all the races I've had, my favourite 3 were where I lost simply caues I was getting to see another performance car show me what it was all about. Scooby is yet to be beaten but I hope something nice and powerful humps me one day, I'll respect it even if it is a little Nova as long as the driver gives a friendly wave and doesn't act like a pr1ck!
BTW are you the mini guy (with the purple mini) from SSC??
