Escort Cossie maybe, but i trashed a Sapphire Cossie, his exhaust was soo loud i heard it in my car over my acceleration and tyre noise, so dont say all cossies beat all scoobs, and i know the scoob is the worlds best car but i like it! plus i love cossies and evos so i'm not biased at all!!

wow, can't belive this thread is still going on.
just looked at that video - had to mute the sound tho, how annoying were those two? FWIW the scooby didn't seem to be trying at all and neither appeared to be going that fast anyway...

they WERE annoying, can't imagine somebody has the guts to post something like this....
You're right the Impreza wasn't trying at all and this loser still had a tough time to overtake him.....

Alberick, certainly seems like they failed to overtake despite a total lack of effort from the scooby. its usually pretty obvious when a turbo car is trying as a big cloud of unburnt fuel gets spat out of the exhaust with every gear change, and you should see the suspension moving as the power goes off/on - both signs conspicuous by the absense in this case.
if anyone wants to see genuine fast they should take a look at the vids of the skylines racing across tokyo bay bridge on Ex Vi Termini.

I have never once said my legacy is fast. It may be faster than some cars, but it is NOT fast. There are in fact very few cars that I would regard as fast.
I said the runs I seen on the day looked slow, but after looking at the final results, I agreed that the Mark Shead sierra is pretty quick. Looks arent always what they seem. Any car that is doing 0-100 in under 10 secs pretty fast. Not a rocket, but ok. Close to 10 secs is also pretty impressive.
I hate to make comparisons, but for a car with around 500bhp, I would have thought it could go quicker. Take several standard TVR's for example. With less than 400bhp thay can manage sub 9 secs to 100. They may be a bit lighter than a sierra, but not that much. Now that is quick and for a standard car, its awesome. From what I hear though, they are about as reliable as a modified car too.
A good example of subaru vs cossie was the Top gear video. Despite some pathetic driving, the standard subaru gave the modified cossie a run for its money. I would in fact say it was quicker based on that video. The escort that raced it was a hell of a lot faster than the other escorts in the vid, so why was it not easily quicker than the subaru??
I have driven both, sierras, escort cossies, both big turbo and small turbo. IMHO, as an overall package of build quality, driver enjoyment and handling, the Ford is no match to a Subaru.

LOL like Alex's reply to "Wonder Bitch"
well all i can say for the st220 is that you must have done some miricle to it to get a sub 6 sec 0-60, even ford quote 7.4 and its one heavy bitch (1495kg) compared to a classic scoob (1245kg) so the power to weight is 147 to 177bhp, look even a standard Honda Civic Type R is going to be quicker unless you have a supercharger or the likes for a car thats been out for 4 months or so

14500 rpm, yes the Tokyo Bay bridge, had once the chance to be part of in with a friend of my wife's modded Fairlady Z. Not the fastest of the pack, but still amazing. Nothing like those lame attempts as seen here.....
Haha, we should put the 2.1 cabrio 'scort in there, I'm sure his silly yelling would go away soon. We'll give him 1 minute to go ahead and he'll sweat his a$$ off avoiding the cars coming up from behind.
OR he could just take the "slow" lane....where he belongs
In short, next time post a video where you actually pass the other car, not one where you switch off the camera when the Impreza noticed you, florred it and vanished in the distance (what is exactly what happned or else we could have seen the "good" part of the video)....instead of driving behind and oh yeah show some dignity next time when doing so

Alberick, I'm up for some silly behaviour on the m-way as much as anyone else, but the guys in that vid are in a different league...
Don’t the police have something to say about all this? The speed they go past other traffic is like its going backwards, if you changed lane at the wrong moment it’d be like getting hit by an anti-tank missile. Still, I bet it was exciting eh?
goes to show theres fast and theres FAST.

Stevie,
That guy TIB that you saw on the day & who I was talking of has a bhp figure somewhere in the 300's mate (cams, headwork & 20psi peak boost out of a T34 if my memory serves me correctly) so he was never gonna be able to compete properly with the 500bhp+ people. All I was saying is that you did actually say that the white Sapphire you saw was slow.....maybe it was comparitively but in my eyes you could never actually call a car like that slow.
I didn't come on here to have an argument, merely to state a fact as I love all quick cars.
Cheers,
Ian
PS. My cars better than everyone elses in the world ner-ner-ner-ner!!!

If I lived anywhere near Santa Pod, or any other dragstrip, then I would be there. Unfortunately to come over it would cost about £400 per car, in ferry charges and petrol. Not really a viable option every week, or month for that matter, not to mention accomodation charges if I was to stay a night. The Irish sea is the most expensive stretch of water in the world for passengers.
Prices are usually close to £200 return. F**KIN RIP OFF !!!!!!!!! Sometimes cheaper in winter, but not much, and often even more expensive in the summer.
