Ditto Bravo...the firewall here blocks me out of Chat so I either use MSN or the Muppet Show. 
Plus which, being the only one in my team here for this week means I have SOO much work to do that even MSN is still off.

it may take him a few minutes as he reduces the horizontal sizing in photoshop by 50%!!

bit late coming into this one, but will add my 2p's worth.
I know it's gonna sound sad, but have you thought about internet dating agencies? yes, sad geeks use them, but, they can work. I am/was signed up to a few of them, one being lycos, the others being pretty reputable places, so we're not talking serious internet stalkers or "cute bubbly sandra, 25" who turns out to be fat Marvin 45
As has been said before, there are some single girls on here, and some very geniune ones at that, and yes, I do know this from experience, not because I've 'sharked' them (to coin a phrase
), but because I've talked to them. And no, I'm not going to give you a list of their names 
.
So, to this end, you could always try hanging around the muppet forum or scoobychat every once in a while, and I am being fairly serious.
Despite having (if you frequent the muppets) this 'shark' persona of mine, I'm not really a big ol shark, so I do know it is not easy 'pulling' (god I hate that term) a nice girl. Guess it's life, though.
All i can say is, try what feels natural for you, as in if you feel going down the pub, gym, supermarket is more you than using the 'net then fair enough, it's all down to what you are comfortable with. Trust me, not all women are nasty, it might seem that way, but they are not, and most of the time, the best girls will just appear out of nowhere. Good luck mate.

yeah thing is I don't get time for hobbies that arnt laddish,I spend what little time I get at weekends with mates fishing and relaxing with a few beers round a lake in the countryside getting some peace and quiet

NBW i do that because I am single, I am not going out on the pull on my own and as I have explained my mates don't need to go out on the pull. Hence we go off and do things like fishing (more drinking and p!ssing about involved than actual fishing)
I am not one for going down the gym or supermarket trying to pull, couldn't think of 2 worse places to try
