Thumbs up

Polarbear nope mate I am up in the midlands I would love to meet up one day though. Maybe on a national day or a trackday sometime and talk scoobs and skylines. I am into performance cars of all sorts, in fact I am going a Porsche owners club meet next week with a mate with a porker, to be convinced to buy a 911 . Who knows I have an open mind on cars if I like 'em I buy 'em (if I can afford 'em ). I am under no illusions that the scoob is the perfect car cause it isnt but it floats my boat at the moment . Next week could be different .

Well type RA's and skylines are very different cars, think of the acceleration of a type RA but with much longer gears!!!

Happy to give you a demo next time I'm heading up to lancashire though!

I don't think the skyline is perfect either - ideally I'd have a Pagani Zonda C12S - Sound awesome, look spectacular, light weight, amazing interior, 220mph, but £300k

Agreed I could just about "live" with a Zonda

Pound for Pound I'd rather spend it on a SKyline, there's to many damn scoobies around at the moment, and the skyline would stick out more

The problem with Scoobynet X v Y arguements is that most people engaged in the debate have never even driven the opposition they are so determined to belittle.

380 BHP Skyline:

Puff,
Skyline slayer?
Why I oughtta!

Well said Blow Dog, unless you've got a serious scooby (e.g an Mark R19Ket clone) your ganna get a hard slap down by a preped skyline. Anyone remember the Clarkson video? I've been in LOADS of imprezas over the years. the skyline I went in on Saturday slapped them all down. Just coz you all drive a scooby, give a little respect to the other monsters out there.

Polarbearit

I have spent a lot to date, but a lot of this was on failed stereo gear..... this is more of a minefield than engine performance it seems

For 360bhp I spent

Link (firstly mapped terribly by anonymous (twice) then mapped properly by Bob Rawle... including Q chip then revised chip - about £2k spent here...
Lamba
Knocklink (£200 for both say?)
Intercooler temp gauge (about £70)
Boost Gauge (£300 including the pod)
3 port boost solenoid (£100)
Blitz then HKS then APS AIR FILTER (£600 ish)
VF22 turbo then VF22 Hybrid (about £1500)
Nismo 740cc Injectors (£600?)

BPM full system , then modified by Longlife Exhausts - then Scoobysport downpipe and hks mid and rear (£1500)
Then there was an AP paddle clutch swiftly changed for an organic as the paddle was undriveable (shame I want told this in the first place) - (£650)
APS front mounted intercooler... (£1000)
Antilift kit (£150)
Front strut brace (£350)
Rear strut brace (£350 sti's)
Front MRT arb (£100)
Bump steer mod (£100)
Various suspension geometry (£100)
Rear MRT arb (£100)
rear drop links (£40)
Brake support bracket (£50 - totally useless heap of sh*t)
AP 4 pot brakes, braded hoses (£1600)
18 inch alloys (£1200)

Costs to fit, etc above and plenty of remaps say £1000

About £7k spent on stereo gear

So really not that much spent on performance mods - I'm sure IU've missed something

Then of course theres the cost of recent mods of circa £5k+

I should have power comfortably around 400bhp at around 1.6/1.7 bar of boost.......

The turbo can take more - so should be slightly over 400bhp....

Yep it aint cheap.. at the end of the day there is no substitute for Cubic capacity - the Skylines are very bulky.

Having swapped my car for a Friends Ferrari 550 Maranello (sp) for a week I decided that the cars with the capacity just arent fun at all - the car was no good at all on country roads - you had to concentrate more on making sure you were driving fully on your side of the road, handling was nothing special and I didnt feel any particular power - sure the top speed was higher.. but how often can you use it - we did 190mph for a short while in France - the Scoob will accelerate quickly to 150mph - thats good enough for me

Cool

Steve - it sounds like an awesome spec, I would love a ride sometime! I'm sure 400 bhp in a scooby will be very impressive...

I wish skyline 18's were available for £1200... New wheels are 600+Vat each for NISMO 18's

There is no comparison. The Skyline is simply the better car. No ifs, buts or maybe's.
Get in one and drive it, you'll see what I mean.
My prodrive modified scoob against a Skyline with breathing mods only, Skyline quicker with less effort.
Get out of the Skyline and back in my scoob. Scoob feels faster but only gets the pull for a few seconds then ... seeya ...
I find there is no comparison between the two cars, but maybe I have a different viewpoint.

My power to weight ratio divided by my life sized scoobydoo doll minus the blinkers that have been put on my eyes state I love myself and therefore my **** subaru with spray can tinted rear lights mod can beat a skyline.

I have a huge pen1s too, much bigger than all of yours.
