Get some of that DIY liquid from halfords that comes in a kit to etch your windows. Sling some of that over both lenses. Now it,s useless. Apparently they have to be sent away as a whole unit and it takes yonks to fix them.

As for removing them on a permenant basis - although this is a good idea, I don't see how it would be possible (?)

You'd definately get caught and it would cost you more than £60 and an endorsement I think
