Bajie,
Would prefer to take you out on a track day, as ONLY then can you fully appreciate how slow ALL other cars are...
But if you're brave enough, then I'm stupid enough!
LOL
Mike
PS I will put the solid diff on for Santa Pod, so it should stay together!
Stef,
I can't wait for the next track day, PLEASE keep me informed....!
Thanks
Mike
PS That was only with 22-23psi (1.5 bar "ish"), wait 'til you have experienced the full 37psi (2.5 bar+!).

Mike, what cossie is it a sierra or and escort?? where can i get the specs on it?(just out of interest)
Bajie, I went for an auto because I got a good deal on it. I was initially going for a manual, but could not find one for my budget in japan as they hold a higher value.
I had the same thoughts as most about an auto, that its crap etc, but having driven one, I was impressed. Secondly the autobox has had good feedback from supra club.

Mike.
There's an SIDC trackday at Donington on March 5th, but it may be SIDC members only. I guess you'd have to ask Pete at Scoobysport. One Cossie can't hurt!
If you can't do that, we'll just go to one of the 'Track Attack' days there.
Stef.

Dear Supra Owners,
I seem to remember quite a few of you (Branners, Yunus) commenting on how well a Supra handled. Well I've put my money where my mouth is and stumped up to join the SIDC just so I could play with the 4wd girls - what about you lot then? I 'spose you'll just be spectating, coming out with some excuse of why you couldn't get on the track.... Well I managed to, so no excuses. See the rest of ya on the track at Donno on 5th March.
Best regards
Mike

Back on the main subject.
I own a MKIIIT, and there is no way I would want to race an Impreza Turbo of any flavour (at least until I've modded it). But the MKIV will pull a G of lateral acceleration, more than, I believe, than the Scooby.
Anyway, Justin F took delight in going around evos the other week. On country roads. His soop is wingless.

Evos, now were talking serious stuff!!
The Evo would whip a scoobs *** on country lanes, and for Justin in his wingless supra a scooby would just be a diet scooby snack!!;-))
Ohh and for all the arguments on the other thread about the Ford RS Turbo, they are in the minor hot hatch league, and how on earth is can flex with the scooby is beond me!!

Wingless, meaning a non-turbo? Funny because whipped a turbo MKIV in my Evo I a couple of
weeks ago (see earlier post in this thread). I guess the Evo driver was looking the other way.

Reading the 130 or so posts something is becoming very clear .
The Subaru Impreza Turbo is regarded not only by subaru owners but supra, rs and evo as the current performance car benchmark , which all other performance cars aspire to better . Lets face it if scoobies are crap why are you so worried to prove that your cars are better .
This is the only conclusion I can come to . I am not a psychologist (sp?) though.
Enjoy your cars boys and be careful out there.

Chris P,
As I believe I am the only Evo owner active in this post, I figure your last post was partly targeted at me.I have never compared my car to Scooby on ths BBS, so how is it that you come to the conclusion that I am benchmarking my car against a Scooby? I only compared it to a Supra.
By the way, I don't live in the U.K.,I live in Jamaica. Out here it is the opposite to the U.K., where Evos outnumber Scoobys probably ten to one. Out here the Evo is the undisputed benchmark, so I don't really have the frame of mind of Evo owners in the U.K., i.e. I bet my car is faster than a Scooby. If anything it is more like, I bet(or I hope) my Evo 1 is faster than an Evo 2,3,4,5, or 6.

I wasnt aiming at anyone in particular it was targetted at the thread in general, in fun and in no way having a go at anyone.
I love and respect performance cars of all types. At the moment I drive a scooby and I am very happy with it. If we all drove around in the same car it would be boring.
So we need manufacturers to push the performance envelope of their cars so in the end we all benefit from having better cars. I am not sure if Subaru UK/Prodrive would have produced the P1 if it wasnt for all the sti/wrx grey imports and of course the EVO6.
I am glad to see a thread like this as it keeps us scooby boys on our toes .
Cheers

wingless as in a wingless Supra TT!
Scooby as a benchmark? but sorry to say that on country lanes an Evo is king, so you should say that an Evo is the benchmark, even for you scoobe dudes! The fact that a wingless supra kept right up with an Evo say a lot about the supra handling characteristics on *country lanes*
Oh but an Evo is just an awesome car with a *proper* engine, not no VW beetle based boxer!!;-)

I thought Subaru designed the Impreza as a rally car which was why they used the boxer engine, placed in the front of the car, just like a beetle! as it had a lower centre of gravity.
I still don't fully understand your comments on this thread.
I can only assume you feel 4WD Subarus are crap but a 4WD Mitsubishi is not.
Bearing this in mind I think your talking out of your ****.
Or are you just trying to provoke reaction for no real reason.
And yes, I did take the bait!

yanus,
Have you done anything to improve the handling of your car? I'm interested because after driving the supra over the weekend I've come to the conclusion that it needs some work done to it. Ride quality is suspect now that the car has more power. While boosting to 1.2 bar in 2nd gear it almost felt like the scooby flooring it in 1st means that the tires break loose around 5,000 revs..not too cleaver!
I think we need a good shock/spring conbination, any recommendations ? he's got his sights on some 18" wheels...which I don't think will improve things as the car feels very unsettled as it is!
Cheers Mark

mark its stock at the moment, but I guess in order to maximise the grip you just have to get a a feel for the road/conditions and anticipate the wheel spin. What supra do do have??I think the single most thing you can get to maximise traction is race logic traction control, you can set it up to give you varying levels of slip. Oh, and bridgestone SO2's are highly reccomended!
#143
Or dry conditions either for that matter. increased traction is always an advantage where the power output of the car exceeds it's ability to put it down on the road.
This is why you would get murdered over the 1st 400 yards of a qtr mile in your Supra vs. an Sti, and why you prefer to stay at home when it rains (isn't that so Mike R )

hey even F1 cars had traction control, and still has a varient, not exactly TC as we knew back in 92-93, but complex sofware mapping of the engine torque etc etc. But like you say when you have crazy bhp, which the supra can happily produce 850bhp!!
Oh man, when i`m ready i`ll definatly like to see how my supra does against a scooby with more traction!!

Sh*t, im amazed this rubbish is still
going on !!!
If I had the money, id have a scooby for
day to day use and wet weather , and a tuned supra for dry Sundays....
Both are faster under different conditions,
can't we just leave it at that ??????

Justin,
That would be very sensible, which of course invalidates your suggestion in this context. You probably should have worked out that this thread is mostly rubbish and stopped reading it by now .
I did, but couldn't resist replying to yunus's ongoing provocations (all in good humour you understand...). It's only a bit of friendly banter
Cheers,
Alex
P.S. aren't there a lot of lurking Supra and RS owners
