cossies and scoobies

I'll race him in the new car, 0-60, 0-100 and 1/4 mile - point is, he has got one of the quickest Cossies - and susrpise surprise it doesn't have a GGR engine - hence it being quick

Craig,
How come the dislike of GGR?
I will agree I'm not a fan... long story about a mate's cossie engine that didn't quite work properly due to very basic engine building error!
How's the car coming along by the way?

craig, that wasnt the idea, just posted some stats and GGR just happened to be on there LOL
"i didnt know it takes 500 bhp in a Cossie to make it as fast as my standard Evo!? Why is that?" wtf are you on about/looking at blindeous? is your car sub 10 secs to 100mph? i think not!
most impressive stats there for me is the in gear acceleration of the turbosystems car against the allegedly more powerful GGR car

I didn't say anything about a straightline cossie, I just said that since you come onto a subaru board and spouted nothing but **** maybe you should put your money where your mouth is and I'll show that shed of yours some real roads (i.e ones with corners).
As for the head to head suggestion I'd happily chip in a fiver to contribute towards the costs of 'our boy' going head to head with the cossie boys. We beat you in the Revs article and we'll beat you again.
I nominate Andy F as his car seems to be one of the fastest and he's certainly not slow round the track.
You know I have nothing against any other performance car on the road but given the behavour of certain cossie owners on this site I really do hate the things now!!

Richard,
Not really a dislike as such, just people I know with "x" power conversions never seem to make the power - and I don't know how power figures can be published if no dyno or even RR runs are done?
Smells of BS IMO. Saw a video of them talking about Scoob tuning too - said something like "if you chip them they blow up" lol. Err, if THEY chip them maybe.......(cue Co55ie remarks, Scoob, jap crap, worst 2 litre turbo engine blah blah blahzzzzzzzzzzzz)
Biffo,
I know you're joking - I've got the utmost respect for Martin and his mutant creations
I've been up against him quite a few times in the Scoob - lost everyone lol but that doesn't bother me.
Not sure if I'll beat him in the new car but I'll still have a bash - is a good target to set yourself - especially as he's a down to earth nice guy, not up his own 4ss or pretentious at all despite having arguably the fastest cossie in the country - unlike co55ie who hasn't but thinks he has lol.

SaxoBoy,
Being impartial, not only are you gonna have to munch on your turbo after the Focus Cossie thing , I think you'll find Martins cossie is a fair bit quicker than Andys car (quick as it is) - over the 1/4 Martins was at least 10mph fast than Andys latest times..........so you're gonna lose a fiver too - and as a Scot that's gotta be harder to swallow than backing out of a challenge

1/4 mile it may have the scooby but what about round a track, etc and all the other gubbins required to make a full and comprehensive test. Besides, I refuse to believe andy's scooby is the fastest in the country cause I've been in it and I'm just not that lucky. Someone else is waiting in the wings silently at the moment!
LOL at the 'tight scottish' thing
If I recall I used the word 'wet twisties' when talking about the focus RS, which I think ensures my bowls will be ok for now

I have heard a lot about your car and Martins but sadly never seen them in the flesh(so to speak) even though I have been to Donno and the Pod several times.
I know there are a lot of quick cars out there and I have a lot of respect for them.
Is your new car a Scoob or is it the Westie?.
I hear Martin did a 0-100 of 7.6 or there abouts, which is just mental.
I think he will be back on the scene soon with a bit more power.
Regards
Biff

SaxoBoy,
I think you'll find Martins Escort handles "quite" well too
If you wanna race it, best track is Angelesey where it's too tight and twist for it to get into it's stride - anywhere else where it can get on boost properly though
Biff,
New car is the Westie........
Not fair to compare really is it - just an ickle 1.3 factory engine with a simple single mod

This is the best tread I've seen on scoobynet for a while.
Firstly, can I say that cossie look totaly crap to anybody who has a job.
Secondly, whats all this 1/4 mile crap?
Real racers go round bends. Impreza turbo's don't need massive horse power to pass a steaming bucket of money spunk on wheels.

lol @ bumcrack - "Cossies look crap to anyone who has a job"
Class , and I prefer Cosworths !
About Angelsey (Ty Croes) circuit and to those who say 'Cossies don't go around corners'...
I did a track day in my rwd 270bhp Cossie last year, dry track. On track were some nice cars i.e. Audi TT (Turbo), TVR Chimaera, '95 WRX, Fiat Coupe Turbo, loads of Elises, 340bhp M5, 911 3.2 Carrera etc etc etc.
At the beginning of the day, most peeps were gathered around the newer stuff, by midday, I had a fair crowd around me old Cossie . Why is that? My driving? No. Me g/f? Hope not! The Cossie actually being the quickest in out group (B), which included the WRX and M5, YES.
We were being timed independently and by my g/f (naughty I know but most do it). We lapped 55 secs, the Impreza and M5 around 57-58secs.
The REAR WHEEL DRIVE Cossie matched the 4 wheel drive Audi and WRX in the bends and noticeably had more pull once we were over 60-70mph. Yes they were trying, yes they could drive (track day veterans and the Audi driver raced Westfields in some form), no there cars weren't broken.
Yes, even rwd Cosworths handle in the dry. Those owners who claim they don't either can't drive very well or don't know what a good handling car is.
For those who doubt it, please get in a rwd Cossie with someone who can drive, at a trackday, in the dry. Then please stop spouting bull**** over a subject you're clearly wrong on and have had no experience of. It makes me chuckle when people makes sweeping comments on cars they've only read about or seen going up the local high street.
Wow don't I go on ?

For me a car must look good and go good in equal measure.
I can't understand people that get a 1.1 saxo and get full body kit, tints, neons and all the rest of it but it still goes slow as **** despite looking mean.
I can't understand people that get a 1.1 saxo, drop in a VTS engine, supercharge it, strip it out and do the 1/4 mile in 12 seconds....but it still looks like a boggo standard 1.1 (only good for the Q car thing)
The cossie, IMO and I stress my opinion looks totally pants so I don't care how fast it can/can't go it'll never be a good car to me.

Of course saff cossies look pants. You don't think I bought mine for the looks do you?
But when it's got the right wheels, subtle mods, and the correct suspension stance (i.e. proper standard rear ride height, and nose down front, they look hard as ****).
The scooby is not the prettiest car out the box either is it? But with the right wheels, subtle mods etc etc. (22B excluded).
CC,
My hat goes off to you mate. Thank you for the most constructive and correct comment I've ever read on scoobynet.
I had my 2wd saff round Donnington at RSOC National Day two weeks ago, and I had the most fun I've ever had with my clothes on! I like to think I have a little driving skill, having been racing in one form of motorsport or another for 11 years, and the 2wd will suprise a lot of people.
Everyone seems to think it's all massive opposite lock moments in a 2wd saff, where they can be extremely quick round corners, with not a great deal of fuss. Sure, the spectacular slide is easily available, and good fun, but I found the car to be precise enough to carry plenty of speed round the circuit.
Craig - before you tell me about the merits of a scooby, Dingy wouldn't shut up about your carried speed through Craner . I put that down to a well set up car, and a good driver. Having said that, Jay didn't appear slow either!

some cossie stats you your perusal craig and co55ie....

Strange.... A 300BHP Calibra Turbo was getting 13.1 1/4 mile times as well and thats quicker than the 300BHP Cossie, quicker than the 435 BHP cossie and the same as the 460BHP Cossie shown above
Whats that tell you ??
