Thumbs up

good enough figures.

any chance of posting the graphs from WL4 and WL5 showing the old exhaust v new?, so we can see exactly where each system worked best.

I will try and find the one from WL3 (did not go to 4) and then over lay them onto the one from 5.

I think it's a useful improvement based on the peaks, 5 more hp for a start (roller accuracy ignored for now...)

its the torque which is better IMo, thats what probably made David swear when we changed the exhaust. A word begining with F, when i booted it in 2nd, it wheelspun and squirmed away down the road. Would not do that before

I will try and get the overlays as best as possible, using excel, clearer image then.

WL 3 was peaking at 1.4bar and holding 1.25 per the defis (based on me watching them)

WL 5 was peaking at 1.3bar and holding 1.25 per the deifs (set to record)

David, i have not scanned the second one in yet, scanner would not work, hence why it took me an hour to plot the points from paper into Excel.

Why do you want them?? Do not fully understand what your final bit means

Sorry Steven, been away from the internet from &pm last night until now..

So new graph is slightly higher all over and a smoother graph.

Nice comparison.. new exhaust is a HKS Hyper (IIRC)?

Was the first graph on the Scoobysport? or the one inbetween?

I am trying to recall if your old system was 2.5" and your new one is a full 3"?.

if it is, it is good to see that you have not lost out low down with the larger bore.

strange torque curves, just as well you labelled them or you could read either as a power curve.

Old system was SS 2.5" Downpipe, Magnex Centre with Resonator and SS Back Box.

New System is H&S 3" Downpipe, HKS Hiper Centre and Rear.

The car held boost on the rollers quite well, the only disappointing thing for me was when boost came in on the rollers, 1000rpm later than what it does on the road

Well lane is crap for spooling, except on Davids car, where it hit mega torque real quick.

Very useful torque addition, circa 20ft-lbs in most of the on boost range, even with lower(ish) peak torque.

I would be so tempted to get it to hold 1.4bar, but then I have no fear (and it's not my car!)

And as T-Uk pointed out, no loss of low down torque with 3" exhaust system.

Paul, 1.4bar will be the aim shortly. Just need to sort a few things out 1st, like fueling (ie FPR), and inlet pipe. Also a couple of exhaust leaks.

Steven

Just be done with it and fit a TD05 like Rich Wild has
Gain +13bhp and +23lb-ft torque and more importantly raise your torque at 3700 from 220 to 280 lb-ft for a "real" kick in the pants when you plant it midrange

Andy, i am happy with the results of my car, does exactly what i want on the road. Interesting to note that Rich was running 1.5bar, and i only 1.3peak.

Definately dont want to run 1.5bar

I know Rich changed is exhaust, but hell there was one hell of difference between mine and his car.

There is still plenty left in mine at the moment, as it is running rich imo, but hey we will see.

i suspect that the on road torque is a lot different to the graphs above, but who knows, maybe i should buy, or perhaps BORROW, an AP22??

ask JB nicely and he can give you AP22 logs of the max he could get from the MD304 v TD05.IIRC both turbos set to run similar boost, well as much as the MD304 gave before loosing power unlike the TD05 which gave more power with more boost.

I dont want to go to the TD05, as i have not started playing with the turbo i have. Besides, on the road, given i was down on power and torque compared to DW, i could pull away.

There is plenty left in my car as it is, with out pushing things to the level of Johns tuning abilities. Besides, the levels you and John are talking about, are not what i specified in selection criteria, way back in August & September.

I am happy as i am, thanks...

.... for now anyway. Think DW said, once i have driven his car, i will want more, given that he asked me to run it in for him, i have a horrible feeling i WILL want more. At that point i shall re-evaluate what I WANT and NEED from my car.

Cheers
