must be the evo twins. The blond driving this Evo falls into the 'you would' category...shame she isn't in my 'I could category'

Red face

Got very badly shown up by some type of 993 on Motorway in my Sti, doing about 70 in outside lane and I flashed him and he then I floored it. Absolutely no contest, like I was standing still. This also happened to me on my Yamaha Fazer along country lanes with a guy in a 911, even on the straights I was only keeping the distance the same and every corner he pulled away further. Nothing is invincible.

Cheers
Cammy

Thumbs up

Bet all the other BBS's are loving this - bit of humility... Stop the buggers whinging though

Off the lights and the scoob wins nearly every time

iam too. but hey i work extra hours so who cares.

uxg there are plenty of scoobs been beat by novas at drag strips etc. Just wonder wether the RA would keep up with a nova running 240bhp through fwd 6 speed box.

Might beat it out the blocks, not sure on the move from say 50mph though.

About these Nova's.
My cousins got a lime green Nova with a 1.6 Astra GTE lump in it and NOTHING in the car except two recaro seats and a big amp / sub setup.
Boost valve, hi-lift cams, straight through exhaust and loads of other stuff I can't think of right now.

Looks, sounds and IS evil. Can't wait to take my new Turbo out against it!

yea its not funny getting blown away by some poxy little hot hatch but it happens at times.

Agree with Saxo boy about it depending what colour the sky is as to whether you get a good boost or not

anyway yep should be working !!!

UXG>>So U doubt an M3 would stay with your car, and probably be a tad faster in a straight line?

If it's an E30 that might be true, but an e36 or better - that would prolly be true, it's math mate - they've got good power coming from those 6's....and rwd with much less loss than in our AWD drivetrain.

So, for a stock STi (even an RA) - it'd be hard to beat the M3 in a straight line.

Nope I have had a go with 2 E36 M3 Evo's (321bhp) on 2 separate
occasions and spanked them both. The first was by about 7-8 car lengths
from standing start to over a ton (and I never side step my clutch
either) The other one was with a friend of mine who is a very good
driver but I still managed to pull about 5-6 car lengths on him from
30mph in 2nd gear till about 120mph (both of these were on a private
road of course) I used to be scared of M3's before these two events but
not anymore. So in my personal experience I definitely know I have the
drop on M3's but I agree with some of the comments made about modded hot
hatch's. A couple of Nissan Pulsar's have almost kept up with me and
one or two Renault 5 turbo's are very quick but these are cars that have
had literally £1000's spent on them just to keep up with an almost
standard Type R.

uxg I don't want to start a fight here but in my experiences the 320-40bhp M3's would never get wasted by that much by any standard scooby. In fact, I'd expect them to win (albeit by a small margin). Just my thoughts! I raced the new M3 in the Saxo once and from 0-100 the distance he put on could not be measured in car or even bus lengths. 100's of metres and to do that requires mind boggling acceleration!!

saxoboy uxg doesn't have a standard scooby! sti type r with decat system must be approx 300bhp. with a 8000rpm limiter and close ratio box thats a seriously quick car compared to a std uk

Well like I said I am only going on personal experience. I have a Type R with the short ratio box and it also puts out about 300bhp and a Type R is a lot lighter than an M3 so that might have something to do with it . Like I said E36 M3's. No Probs. Some guy at work has just got himself a new M3 (E46) so I'll probably get to give that a go soon. Must admit that one has got me a little nervous after all the stuff I have read abut them but we will see

The only car that's given me a fright in my gtir was an evo extreme which I was holding up in the wet.A couple of mates have bikes(Fazer600 and CBR600) and I can hammer both of these on the bends. The CBR600 starts to pull away on the straights and the Fazer is a good match with me only just edging it on the accelleration.

Yep like I said the new M3 does make me a little nervous. Time to practice those standing starts I think. How much does a new clutch cost?

I've only based my comparison on the new M3 and I've seen/been in a fair few scooby that aren't exactly standard. The new M3 will put up a really good fight with all but the fastests Impreza's and even then if you venture well beyond 100mph and your ahead they'll just reel you in

Cool

I was held neck and neck with a Bentley Turbo R in my MY93 WRX. I was using the full rev range and couldn't gain anything (not that I was trying of course ). Not bad for a 45 ton car...

I have both an RB5 WR and a Daihatsu Mira Avanzato TR-XX R4 which is only 659cc. I can safely say the Mira will blow any scoob to 30

Only the other evening, I surprised myself by beating a CTR in my almost standard bugeye from 30 - 90 (he was three up and me one) - not by a lot, but quite clearly he was trying and and I beat him was expecting to lose. Let him go after that and cruised on feeling smug, only to find 5 minutes later that a Rover 200 (old shape) was living with me and certainly seemed quicker than the CTR.

Just goes to show, can't rely on anything. Tomorrow I expect to beat a Mclaren F1 who was trying and then lose to a Fiesta 1.8D.
