You can guarantee that certain elements in Subaru and IM monitor this board regularly.

Hey Mike.... that was a bit hard on Beef!! Guy's seen (or believes he's seen) very strange WRX, and it's pretty reasonable to ask if anyone else has seen it too. After all, a decent Diesel engine is a gaping hole in the Subaru model line-up under current market conditions.... and he did specifically speculate that it might have been a Subaru (as opposed to a Prodrive) development. Assuming his post isn't a deliberate wind-up fiction, seeing it near M40 Banbury is a statement of fact, if with intriguing overtones. However, thanks for the information that a) it's technically unlikely and b) nothing to do with Prodrive!!

Wanted to take the opportunity, seeing as your E-Mail is hard to get hold of - but you're clearly watching this thread - of thanking you and the others at Prodrive who made the STiUK promotion days such smashing events: those of us who came on them had a B****y good day, and those who were driven in PRO300 had an even better on

Don't suppose you know what's causing this rattle in so many STiUKs do you??.....No?.... feared not Roll on my PPP

Phil

Dont care too much about PPP, springs are more urgent imo, with 5000 miles in 6 weeks my STi is loosening up nicely now

Now surely Prodrive can give some info about these ?

Davyboy,

I must have been on the same day as you, could only see the next bend on the track. It did mean that the centre control tower couldn't see us missbehaving though.

Didn't see any secret scooby stuff but the MGZT rear wheel drive V8 with 4 exhauast looked and souned awesome. (Prodrive will be building these for MG Rover I believe)

Loads of security on the gate too.

In my experience (and I have some dont worry) manufacturers only get defensive if you have touched on a sore point.....

Other wise they just ignore and if people are on the wrong track then they cant have a clue whats really going on.

My ten p worth

- Its either total b*llox or...

- Its a feasibility study for 4 years down the road when Subaru
buyers will actually want a diesel in the European range
- It has a 1.9 TDI VAG engine which already works with quattro transmission.

WRX diesel
4 wheel drive
about 220bhp/5000 rpm, loads of mid-range torque
great economy, about 6-8 l/100 Km

I would buy one now!!!!!!!

Erm, well i saw the vehicle, and thats that. The MY03 stuff is irrelevant as that was all just speculation(...) and heresay, but i can categorically say that i saw this car today, and it confused the hell out of me. What is was, or where it was from, or why it was there, or whatever, i don't know, but i saw it and thats that. Who knows, maybe it was just a REALLY shagged WRX, but it sounded like a diesel to me.

For the record, i admit now to all and sundry that it wasn't me that went to Prodrive, it was a good freind of mine, and i trust what he says. Its just easier than the 'my mate said' lark. He may have been wrong, but i took what he said at face value.

Any anyway, does it really do any harm? It generates interest in the company, gets peopel talking about it etc. Maybe someone is getting a litle over defensive? Its all just a bit of fun on this site, its not like we're selling our stories to the national press. Have you seen the MY03 thread at the mo? Its funny as hell.

Anyway, like i said, i'm only reporting what i saw, so beleive me if you want, don't if you don't, i'm really not bothered either way.

Beef

Edited to say sorry Mike, but there are no contact details to get you by.
