" I was thinking similar power to a scoob its got to be lighter but 0 to 60 slower ??? "
But with FWD only! if you compare the 0-60 and 0-100 times it is way faster once moving (claiming back a lot of speed and time from the scoob), maybe that will make you happy.

Off the line don't expect to be much in it on the road.
How many of you are prepared to step off the clutch with 5500rpm dialled in? Magazine testers can be as brutal as they like with 4wd, its not their car, with FWD you can't be brutal because of the wheelspin, you have to be more balanced. If Ford have done a good a job as they claim wheelspin shouldn't be too much of a problem in the dry. Some modern FWD chassis are unbelievable, I have driven recently a Civic Type R, MGZS180, Skoda Octavia RS, Alfa 156 GTA none of which had a problem with traction and only the MG had the odd torque steer moment. Above 80mph fwd cars like the Skoda just pull and pull (No 4x4 transmission loses, better aerodyamics) even with only 180bhp there wouldn't be anything between an Octavia RS and a UK Scoob at 80mph+, the Skoda has a slightly higher top speed at 146mph, with 240bhp it can top 160mph.
Most UK scoobs will run around 6 secs 0-60 with a sensible non clutch destroying pull off, ie 3000rpm and blend in the throttle and clutch.
salsa-king was running around 6.5 seconds with the above method, tried one mega blast off but the clutch wouldn't bite, now has an ap clutch so might be quicker next time at Santa Pod.
The biggest handicap the RS Focus may have is the price. It needs to be priced at or below UK scoob prices leaving the 4x4 300bhp version (May or may not be Cosworth) on the next Focus platform to be priced somewhere around Sti / Evo level.

Take a look at what SVT did to the Focus in America. The RS looks rather similar.
http://www.svt.ford.com
I've had a test drive in the SVT which handled just as well as the WRX, and a slightly more comfortable drive, but not as powerful. Then again, the cars over here tend to get the short end of the stick when compared to European versions.
I'm an Irish lad that's moved to Canada, and I must admit, the cars over here are nothing in comparison.

I'll take the bait....
quote "hmmmmmmm ive owned 2 ford rs cars, dependability what a joke."
well scoobynutta me thinks its the way you drive em. I have had 10 fords and done over 200,000 miles in them and they have never let me down.
Not saying that I dont like scoobs because I do but the chassis is miles better in the focus than any scoob, and I would quite confidently get in the RS and give any scoob driver a run for his money in some nice twisty lanes May not have the sound of a scoob, but they are better built! As for the RS, well I have sat in it and it is great If my old ESP was anything to go by then the RS should be excellent, even though everyone has had to wait far too long!
right, now I have dared be contraversial then I will wait for the flaming.
