I have fought them off several times only by persuading the ex to sort it mutually. Even then when she tried to cancel it they insisted on trying to take me to the cleaners and even got verbally aggressive with her on the phone for changing her mind. They are complete bullies and total w@nkers!

Just spoke to the CSA, they don't take into account any debts apart from mortgage....so car, loan, credit card etc is useless.
They said they have taken 33% of this months salary away from me because they had an address down where I haven't lived for years.
If they had checked the electoral roll they would have got my new address

I didn't think they could do this. I got the CSA involved because my ex-partner was going to pay me £25 per week, which he thought was fair. It was his fault we split up, not mine!
I moved out coz he wouldn't leave and I had to pay child care charges of over £90 per week in order to keep a roof over our heads.
The CSA then assessed him, which he was fully aware of because he filled the forms in, and he paid double that figure. So I think that they have their place - sorry to be controversial.
Hanley, I didn't think they could actually just take money out of your pay packet like that - without telling you etc. My daughter's Dad has access to her, every other weekend. He recently found a loop hole in the system so the amount would be reduced - if you have the child for 2 or more nights a week, you only pay 5/7ths of the amount for the week. Like me, this could be difficult because of the distance.
I am not a money grabbing bitch, I did not get pregnant on purpose or anything like that and I have always earnt my own money. I just think it is a father's responsibility to pay their way.

I don't know you, and I bear you no ill-will, but can I just ask you to look at your post and those which followed it, and read it all objectively.
You appear to be complaining that your child needs to be supported by its parents. Not just one, but both. The fact that you and the mother are no longer together is irrelevant - the child didn't have a say in this but is biologically yours, even if you've shown no interest in it.
I'm just astonished that you could want to blank this child out of your life - the only reason you're incensed is not the fact that you're being deprived of your rights to see your kid, just that you're having to make payments to support it.
Your ex may be cheating on benefits, may not be the nicest person in the world, and may well have got herself pregnant on purpose. Doesn't matter to me, and it doesn't matter to the law - this IS your responsibility, whatever you think. And the reason the CSA was set up was to make sure that Joe Taxpayer shouldn't have to support the children of thoughtless men and women.
You talk about paying high taxes - one of the (many)reasons for high taxes is the need to fund all those unwanted children who fathers have walked away from. I pay my way, I fund my children, why shouldn't you fund yours?
OK, morality lecture over, you're clearly not having a decent crack of the whip here. You should have been informed that deductions were to be applied to your salary, and you should go to see a solicitor as soon as you can. It will probably be quite expensive, but well worth it. You'll have to make payments, for sure, but what you want to be certain of is that this money makes it to the child. You'll also want to get visitation rights (though as you weren't interested before, I'm not sure that you'll be any more interested now) set up.
If I were you, I'd insist on a paternity test, but if the kid IS your, then try to do the best for it, despite your obvious lack of feelings for the mother.
