Who gets detonation with Optimax???

Erm, hello?
If you're listening for det on the rollers, these circumstances will never acurately replicate actual road conditions.
With the I/C mounted where it is, it has to be a bloody massive fan to keep ACTs down..... As such, it's a little difficult to make that assumption, especially as we all know ALL RR operators wear det cans

It confuses me when people talk about why some Scoobs "shouldn't" notice any benefit from Optimax.
Scoobs are like the majority of modern cars in that the engine is governed electronically.
Shell bring out a petrol, knowing the above fact, and still put their reputation on the line by telling eveyone that they will notice greater performance, a smoother engine and so on.
So either Shell are a bunch of berks because they haven't realised that most modern cars' ECUs cant "adapt", or the disbelievers are berks for underestimating not just Scoobs but many other modern cars for their ability to respond to Optimax.
I get fine results from Optimax, though i agree with the good days/bad days observations. How anyone can actually get worse results from Optimax beats me, unless other factors such as the weather are having a greater influence.

Unfortunately, it's not as simple as "if you put a better petrol in, you'll get better results". Defining a "better petrol" is the problem, what works for one car won't work for another. As I've stated, my results may well of been a one-off freak, but at the end of the day my car was detting with Optimax, and doesn't with normal SUL. It may not of been the fuel that was the problem, as I've mentioned, but you can't ignore the fact that some people have not had as good a response from Optimax as others.
One reason Shell brought out Optimax as well - as a low sulphur fuel, they pay less duty to the goverment, hence more of the price goes to them. As I've always said, if something works for you, then use it. If it doesn't, don't worry about it.

Ran my Type RA on SUL + OB then switched to Optimax + OB and the difference was noticeable. May the MY00 ECUs like it better I dont know but it runs really well for me. I have started to use it in the fiesta and that seems to have a bit more go. A bit difficult to tell with a 0-60 of 18 seconds though . I dont know if its detting but its boosting to 1.2bar and holding 1.1bar during the recent hot spell with only a straight through centre and backbox and still has a catted DP.
