Paul, i've had to drop out because of the expensive of buying new wheels not cos the price has gone up. That wouldn't have bothered me.

Maybe i shouldn't have bought the 4 pots then i wouln't have needed the new wheels .

Yep, your right David, would have still been in if i could have got the spacers done. Unfortunately i couldn't even find someone to supply some aluminium plate . If you've got any ideas then let me know and i'll jump at the chance to be in the group buy agen! (the OZs i ordered can't be found in silver at the mo' so they'll be a long delay ).

If you can get 10mm spacers, I am sure they can be skimmed down to 7mm no problem.

I can get 10mm spacers no probs but they are universal for PCD100 -135 (the scooby is 100mm) so the overall diameter is huge. So they sit out between the brake and wheel and look stupid, you can't just cut it down either cause the outer rib is only a few mm thick so instead of a circle you end up with a star. Not ideal. If somebody can get 10mm aluminium plate and David can cut one out and machine it im in! Please .

For those interested, please email me to let me know what you want to buy, how you wish to pay, and your full name (so I can give a list to motosport world for them to check people off against).

As for when to close the group buy, I think end of next week at the earliest, as there is/was a 3 week lead time on the AVO parts. Once the list of people is submitted to Motorsport world, you will each need to telephone/send your payment details, for most of use this will be credit card details, and of course your delivery address.

Cheers

If you want to go 80-100mm lower than standard, you are going to coilovers of some description. I don't know how low the standard springs will take you, but looking at the pictures the POC put on the first page, it looks like at least 60mm lower.

If you want to go lower still, it's going to cost you a set of springs. You might get away with putting the front springs on the back, and getting new ones for the front.

The MOT test requires that your springs don't come lose on full extension of the suspension. Short, hard springs might do just that, but you can fit "helper" springs, which are low rate (as low 25lb) flat coil springs that always keep a little tension in the setup.

The AVO setup uses 2.25inch internal diameter springs, these are a standard size for most raing shocks, so springs are easy to come by. At Merlin Motorsport (the only prices I have to hand) a of 400lb spring 8" long would be £17.40+vat, helper springs are £12.95+vat each, and the adapters to join them are about £8.50+vat each.

So unfortunately the AVO setup will only take you so far.

I will however ask if the kit can be supplied with alternative springs to suit <Dr Evil>LOW</Dr Evil>.

Hope this helps

Paul

It's worth asking, but I would give them a try first, a little goes a long way in the lowness stakes.

I don't like the sound of my expensive downpipe scraping the top of speed bumps...

Kvarnis,

The AVO kit does come with springs. Mouseman just wants to go VERY low, so he migh have to buy some harder, shorter springs, depending on how the standard ones are.

They should bolt straight on in place of originals, the only thing you should need is the rubber top mounts that join the shocks to the chassis.

Thanks Mouseman,

I emailed Colin at MSW about lowness, he said as standard, the kit will lower about 60mm, which is pretty damn low. If you wanted to go lower, you would definitely need harder shorter springs, and possibly some decent elastomer bumpstops.

However, any setup would need non standard springs, and you're unlikely to be able to do it any cheaper than this.

You've got the time it takes the board to revolve to make yer mind up!

Mouseman, if you look in the Gallery, "Nearly finished, an ickle bit lower..." - you'll see my MY00 with AVO coilovers on. Currently set at about 3/4 at front & 3/4 at rear - the car will go lower than I have it set at.

Why do you want to go that low?

I had to raise my AVOs from the settings I installed them on as the front would catch on speed bumps and kerbs. It's still plenty low enough after I've raised it.

I guess you're after that "tyres dissapearing in the arches look" eh?

There is a very low new shape Honda crx coupe near me, looks okay, until you see the thing bounce along, and have to site and wait behind it as he takes ages to slide over the rubber speed bumps.

I have to check an offer for Prodrive Proffesional kit from a friend until 3rd of August so I presume I am out of the closing dates.
