Mr. Gridlock, sir, what time are you going to be at Basford Crossings? I was thinking of coming along for the drive and that's my neck of the woods as well (nearly).

>PLEASE REMEMBER TO CHECK YOUR OIL AND WATER BEFORE YOU GO ON THE ROLLERS

Is there any other advice, esp. for first timers?

What's the normal way it works?

Do we queue our cars up and then a technician drives it onto the rollers or park up somewhere and handover keys? etc.

how long is the car "pushed" for 2 mins - 10 mins ? - is there any cooloff period etc.

Cheers

Chris

basically, when you get there your allocated the next position in the running order. if your the 10th person to arrive on the day you will be the 10th car on the rollers.

we all park our cars up, take the p1ss out of steve for not washing his car and then dave for washing his too much

then when the car before yours goes on, start your engine to warm her up.

when its your turn, drive her on to the rollers, the technicians will do the rest. they take the car to full revs in 4th gear and job done.
you then get a printout and wonder why its never as high as you hoped. you then book yourself into TSL the next week for more mods.

Well, thats what happened last time.

Have i missed anything chaps

Can anyone confirm that the temperatures in the RR bay will be low ie. 20 degrees or less. I have heard rumours of 30+ degrees which aint good for any engine or for figures. Dont fancy my engine melting, do they close all the doors and extract when the car are running ? I know they have air con but no use if the doors are wide open all the time ?

I have asked this week as tempretures were between 15-38 last time but they are going to keep it around the 20 mark and the reason this can be done is because they have now installed (AIR CONDITIONING)

How high do you think your engine bay is when your sat on the motorway in the middle of the summer in a traffic jam.

These cars are made in japan where the tempretures are alot hotter than here

YES I THINK THEY SHUT THE DOORS BECAUSE THE AIR CON WOULDN`T DO ITS JOB.

Hope this helps.

Richard..............[/b]

Okay cool if the air con is working. Obviously if the car is sat in one place though there isnt air flow cooling the engine. I am just getting a bit nervous and obviously dont want to run in 30 degree heat. Is the air con very new as I heard this off the cossie guys up there a month or so ago who said they had air con but the door were permanently open and had temp upto 32 degrees.

Ooops just re-read your post Richard, should be good if they intend to keep it too 20 degrees also makes it fair and should get some consistent results and hopefully make the book figures (or a few more if I am lucky )

Cheers

Question

When i had my car RR-ed at Powerstation (Cheltenham) they ran the car on the rollers with the bonnet open and a great big fan blowing down on the intercooler (plus on on the radiator).

Is this not the case at JN?)

Just wondering, 'cos i have only been rollered once, but might be tempted to pop along at the weekend!

Thats what they did last time boomer but it may be different with air con.??????

After all there the people that pay thousands for it so i think they will be as consirned that there machine is working correct.

I went to well lane a few months back and that was just a drive on the rollers with a fan in front of the car and the bonnets stayed shut????.

Everyone seemed to have the figures they thought they were going to get including me standard P1 but with a back box/itg filter 282 Bhp / 262 lb (standard P1 276 Bhp).

The biggest problem with RR-Roads are people fit exausts + filters and expect 30-40 Bhp which isn`t the case.

Its always a good day and i know im looking forward to it.
