got neither a scooby or an R1, but i guess an integra type-r and a vtr (piped, filtered, dyno's, ohlins front & back, etc) are in the same ball-park

They are so differant - you have to be far more committed on a bike, as its tough to change your line or brake mid corner. Also, road surface is a big factor on the bike.

The bike often wins on visability - you can use much more of the road, and can often straight-line corners & roundabouts (stopping to surf slows you down ).

Impossible to say which is "best". I currently prefer the car on the track and the bike on the road, but then I prefer a laser 1 on the water...

so thats cleared that up

Can you take 3 of your mates to footy on yer bike?

Can you go nearly as fast in the wet around corners?

Do white lines and man hole covers scare you on bends? Especially when wet?

Can you sit in traffic on a summers day without sweating buckets in your leathers (Scoobies have air con).

If I want open air thrills and bike acceleration I'll take another ride in Johns' Westie. It's safer too, just.....

I have to admit that I did see quite a few quick bikes at the'Ring' but only in the dry. When it was wet they seemed to park their bikes in the armco and sit (head in hands) watching all the scoobs carry on having fun.

In answer to your questions
No.
No.
Yes.
I don't sit in traffic when I am on my bike, I filter through it.
John's Westy probably is safer, depends who is driving/riding I guess.

I could ask questions, can you do this that or the next in a car, but I know the answers as I have one. Comparisons are irrelevant as they are both good at different things, the similarity is that you can have fun with both.

errrrrrm, winner is car???
i think so
saying that ive also out paced a bike on the twisties, think he was scared

How can you do a B-road test on a track or airfield? Any B road test has to be done on your average dodgily surfaced tarmac, with farm deposits, horse ****, animals running out in front of you etc, rain at least 50% of the time (meaning standing water), white lines with no grip, potholes etc.

Bikes are miles quicker in a straight line, and more nimble than a car meaning they can go much quicker on smooth A roads and in traffic.

But let's face it, on today's plodified Gatsoes UK roads, who is going to go hell for leather on those roads without losing their license within a year or so? Thanks to bikers unable to control their R1s & Fireblades, great roads like the Cat n Fiddle now have almost constant daytime surveillance, including a spotter plane. Furthermore, the days of wheelies at 120mph on dual carriageways are dying fast, and with it the main argument for taking a superbike over a fast car.

No, the best places to have fun now are roads in isolated areas like the Welsh moors & hills, or down lightly trafficked B roads and C roads, or late at night. And which vehicle is best in these conditions? A scoob, not an R1. Driving a bike at night you can't see things like potholes, bumps or mud before it is too late. And scoob drivers don't have to worry about going 100 miles to Wales only to find it pouring with rain - that just makes it more fun! And of course you can commute to work, carry 4 passengers, pack as much luggage as you want, put on the stereo and cruise - it is the perfect all round vehicle. All for only slightly more than double the price of a super sportsbike.

So Matt Neil rates the bike as fastest. mmm. Guess i'll go along with the TOURING CAR driver rather than all the wannabee racers on this forum and accept his comments! Martin Childs a bike journo whose had some racing experience - he's no Carl Fogerty - just a v. quick road rider. If Matt Neil says its so then why would he lie!!!

Bikes Rule!!
