Newbury Meet! - Another Great one?!?!
Plantie
Looking forward to seeing your car tonight.
I think I will bring my bicycle clips and plastic underpants for the test drive in case you find another Skyline!!
Will ring you to finalise details later.
Cheers

Woo hoo - more scoobies in Newbury/Thatcham!

Shanno - I think I may have seen your car - spotted an RB5 I haven't seen before, parked outside a house not too far away from the Old London Apprentice...won't say exactly where. Was that yours? I got all excited cos I thought it was new to the area...
Huxley Chick - did you see me a couple of cars behind you this morning? I waved as you turned off but don't think you saw me

Anyway, Plantie, does the premeet start at the same place as I went last time? Hopefully I'll be able to make it, but I might have to work late. I'll definitely be there for the nosh though.
Plantie
Thanks for the ride(!) last night - car & drive awsome. Bike clips etc not reqd.
Hope you find the pretty girl!
Haven't put the DV on yet as the car had a flat tyre this morning so trying to get the new boots on first before getting enthusiastic!
Cheers

No sorry, didn't see you
blind as a bat
I followed you up the M4 a couple of weeks ago.......I was right behind you all the way from Theale. The only problem was I was in a black Golf at the time - thought if I waved you'd think I was a nutter

Huxley Chick - I've got the same problem at the moment - I've got a fiesta (until tonight) and the number of scoobs I've seen over the last 3 days has been driving me mad - haven't been able to wave at any of them cos they'd think I was a mad fiesta driver!!
See you soon then.

Wooo hooooo!
Scrap my previous texts about turning up in my lowly Corsa - will still have the Corsa then probably, but I will have my Scoob by then (as long as those history checks and so on go ok). So I'll be able to turn up in one - will be 1st meet with one. Looking forward to showing it off to people (maybe not so much to you guys, but to friends and so on). Not going to push it at all driving-wise until I've got really used to it, so I still likely as not won't be turning up for your mad-nutter pre-meet drive.
Oh, there's a bloke down our road who's got a self-put-together Lambo he very occasionally has outside - a Countach, and I saw him out fiddling with it yesterday for the first time so went and introduced myself and had a chat. Awesome. Tiny wheels though (only 15"), just incredibly fat (wide), 350 or something? Ok, this belongs in another thread but as I was writing...
If the weather stays like this I'm really going to consider hiring out an Elise or other open top thing one weekend.

Yeah - that's the only thing that could be improved on Imprezas - an open top version would be the dog's whatsits wouldn't it!
Back to the Newbury meet thing - spotted another DBM scoob round the corner from where I live - I will go round and encourage him to get on scoobynet and come to the meet too! (Naturally, his scoob isn't as nice as mine!)

If I can get the daughter sorted out I may pop along to have a look, but at 6 months she won't want to stay to eat
I have never been to a meet before, so if there are other newbies there it would be a good ice-breaker, I have always thought that meets are good if you are in the "in crowd" so to speak.....
Anyway, hopefully.......

Scoobys Diner - yeah - saw that last week. I thought exactly the same thing. Reasonable amount of parking space, but not massive - from what you can see from the road. Right next to the petrol station too! (although it's only a texaco, I think?). Perfect placing!
Somerset Yokel - yeah, can be a bit daunting turning up to the 1st meeting when you don't know anyone or what to expect. Come along and introduce yourself to someone/a group. They're usually kinda easy to spot (or hear - when people turn up ;-) as I'm sure you can guess. I hope we're all easy to get on with and I'm sure we are all welcoming to newbies (being a bit of one myself - unless 1yr is too long to call myself a newbie even without a Scooby).
Who's got the silver-grey RB5 (not 100% sure it was an RB5) - Plantie? If so, I'm sure I saw you several weeks ago coming back up towards Newbury on the A339 (the 40-limit bit around Headley) in the evening one weekday. It was pretty loud, plenty to hear even with all my windows up and I just caught a distinctly larger exhaust in my rear view mirror (HKS?). Couldn't make out a driver or see it for long enough to pick any other features out though as it was going the opposite direction.
Scooby scooby scooby, next Saturday shall our paths entwine, I'll hand over some money, and then you shall be mine (spur of the moment rhyme cos I felt like it).

Well mines silver but not an RB5 (just a classic wrx). It does have a loud exaust though.(and an HKS Valve). Not as loud as Plantie's by the sounds of things though !
I often drive from New Greenham Park to Newbury but thats after headley.

Breezer - no more Corsa then?! Excellent!
Have to show me you Scoob sometime, 'specially now I've got mine back too....did you sell the little Corsa? And what's this Scoob like then? Details man, we need details!

Jen,
Still have the Corsa, am picking up the Scoob this Saturday. MY00, Gold alloys (of course!), Scoobysport exhaust - just the rear section/tail pipe I think (of course!), Eibach's, couple of other little things and a CD changer in the boot. Can't wait. Oh, and it's DBM (of course! - for me anyway).
We'll have to exchange approving glances (at the cars) at the next meet - you both coming to this Newbury one then I presume? Still wouldn't mind a ride in yours. If you want to see it earlier, get to the Newlands Corner meet near Guildford on the 11th.
['scuse the edit below - had work to do and thought I'd post first anyway]..
Anyway, keeping the Corsa for a while - prefer to put the miles I'm doing (80 mile round trip to work every day now) on that until I move closer to work in a few months, though I'm sure I'll have to do it in the Scooby sometimes or I'll just get too depressed with the Corsa.
So I won't be selling it just yet - got a potential buyer already (next door neighbour!), but if you know anyone who wants one let me know.
John.

SCOOBY_TUBE! Another scratcham from Thatcham - hooray - that makes at least 3 or 4 of us - I'll wave if I see you, as long as you PROMISE to wave back and stick your feet out of the window!!
Keep an eye out for me: DBM with gold wheels, nice loud exhaust, and defi guages (you should be able to see them in the windscreen). If I see you I'll wave manically. If I don't, I'm probably asleep (as usual).
