I love reading all the usual kiss a@se comments from people to all the BBS users who happen to be dealers, youv'e got to remember you lot all p@ss in the same bucket so you are all standing together on this one.
The original comment was made because several people all said exactly the same thing, that everything was way expensive and the layout of the stalls and area was crap, and comments from Mr Tuckwood as what was my contribution, buying equipment in the past from your business is my contribution.
If you cant take an outsiders opinion then so be it but judging by the amount of comments, i have definately struck a nerve.

Zippy,

I don't have a Scoob, I didn't go to the meeting, so I guess you could say I'm reasonably impartial.

Your complaint seems to be that you couldn't sse what you wanted at the price you wanted it. You expected big discounts over standard ...... WHY??

What would possess businesses (yet to see a registered charity selling Scooby parts) to drop their profit margins other than a small amount? Surely the biggest thing for the punter was being able to see stuff in the flesh, walk from one stall to another and compare quality and prices etc.

Nevertheless, you expected, and you didn't get. Fair enough, have a pop at the suppliers if you so wish.

Can't understand why you have a go at the rest of us though. Not everyone agrees with you, but that does not make us all "kiss-asses", as you so eloquently put it.

Because often discounts are offered at such events, but that doesn't mean they should be demanded/expected.

Bros, when you have been on here a bit longer (amount of replies) you will come to see the amount of rear end smooching that goes on.
It wasnt JUST me who made the same comments, and as for BIG discounts, ANY would have been something. The comment was made as there was so many Subaru owners present in one location what better way to shft some equipment, we all as owners expect to pay a premium for parts because of the type of car we drive but they are inflated becuase of the type of car and Sunday was a good oppurtunity missed by the dealers to shift a large amount of kit at a lower than average price, IMHO.
Every business who goes to events should be prepared to move on the RRP, its called company and product exposure.
They also could have saved some money on fuel bills for ALL those fully laden vans on the trip home.

Zippy,

Subaru aftermarket parts are expensive, but that doesn't mean the companies are making masses of profit on each item.

I know this from experience - bet you reckon everyone makes 100+ % don't you?

Zippy,

If you look at Bros' register date you will see he has been on this board for a year and a half.

Your register date doesn't appear, therefore you haven't been on the board long.

I didn't attend this event BUT at a lot of shows I've been to stall holders tend to reduce the margin on the product they are selling for a couple of reasons:

> boost sales on the day and hence cover some of their additional costs in being at the event.

>Avoids having to pack EVERYTHING at the end of the day and take it home.

If the vendors on this occasion chose not to do that then they have every right to make that decision. It's their stuff. Perhaps they missed out as there is lots of support in this thread but there doesn't appear to have been many buyers.. Perhaps they take the view that an exhaust purchaser is an exhaust purchaser.. if he sees the price reduced now he'll buy now but otherwise he'll buy in a couple of months at full price.

At the end of the day only the vendors know if they took the right decision based on what it cost to be there and the margin on their sales plus the notional value of 'exposure'. I guess we'll have to see what they're charging next year if they deem it worthwhile attending.

Zippy,
totally agree it looked like Ali Babas bazar, it was a little bit better than a car boot sale, dont know why we bother , I agree they do all p*** in the same pot and are responsible for the inflated prices.

Zippy, I can see both sides of the argument..

At the end of the day though these guys put a lot of effort into supporting the community and I admire that... Subaru parts are not cheap BUT in having more than one dealer there is an element of competition and I think in general prices seem fair because of this... Trust me the scene is better with more players in it or we'd all be paying main dealer prices for a 'generally' sub-standard service..

Carl

Good point well put. And I agree with you.

I look for many things when I'm parting with my hard earned wedge for anything. A discount is not of major importance to me.
I have dealt with Scoobymania and Scoobysport on several occassions. Both companies treated me with the respect I deserved and both companies gave me good prices [and discounts] and went above and beyond the call of duty when helping me.

Cool

It is indeed unfortunate that Zippy couldn't get what he wanted for the giveaway price he thought he could. It's also mildly amusing to see somebody with only 200 posts, is criticising an 18 month registered BBS'er.

Where do I stand in your post number, counting game then Zippy.

Zippy and indeed most of you are correct, it's our decision as traders how much we sell for but as Craig says (and he DOES) know how small the margins are, there are no 'big' mark ups in any of the products!

There was NEVER likely to be a mass of people queueing to buy at the stalls, it wasn't that sort of event. The average price of items was very high. I didn't expect to sell a lot, I saw part of it as an education for new owners and non-mechanical types.

That is why I took not only our saleable exhaust system, but also a very heavy and not for sale conmplete standard system including headers and up pipe so people could see what they had got and what improvements could be made.

This whole thread is based solely around Zippy's dissapointment that he couldn't find himself a deal. Perhaps the kit being sold is already at the best prices the relevant companies can afford to/see fit to sell it for?

(Just how many places have you found selling genuine STi pedal sets for that are cheaper than mine)? You also say I could have sold LOADS.... how many dozen sets were you going to buy?

No need for animosity, its refreshing to see that the vast majority of the masses realise that nobody was having anybody over a barrel. You've seen (some of) the costs involved make your own mind up.

Kiss ***........ hehe, how naive.

Mike.
(I'm SURE that's the first time EVER I've been accused of being 'Kiss ***'..... You clearly do not know me).

Mike you keep refering to what I personally couldnt buy, there were several people i spoke to who all agreed with me and they were in the market to buy stuff too, and we as a group wanted 3 sets of STi pedals.
And dont be so naive as not to admit there is a lot of, as i nicely put it a@se kissing on here,i as a regular reader and sometimes respondant like this BBS and a lot of the things on here but all this closing ranks and having a go is exactly my point about the bottom smooching.
You are missing the point of the original post and you are trying to say i'm bitter as i didnt get what I wanted, have a read of the Northern section in the meeting forum several people have commented on the poor stalls.

I didnt think £282 worth of pedals was that small an amount.
But being in BIG business that must be small and unwanted.

ZIPPY.

I'm not singling you out you are, I don't get charged less if I buy 3 pairs, I don't get 20% off when I get charged import tax or cheaper international courier charges.

You will (as I said before) always be more than one person who thinks they DESERVE a better deal for whatever reason. We did have some cheap items with us.

We could GIVE stock away, but no doubt someone would then complain that it wasn't fitted for free, or guaranteed for 60 years.

I personally was proud of my stand and I already know how good my prices are. I don't need to discount when our kit is so well priced already. Regardless, I'm still supporting an ongoing Defi group buy.

Unfair? Someone somewhere will be crying that it's not enough?

Hehe.
I didnt think £282 worth of pedals was that small an amount.

Unfortunately, 3 sets of pedals does not a bulk buy make. Go to Burger king and order 3 burgers, see how much discount they'll give you?.

Like I said, who else is doing them cheap enough to convince you that they are "a good deal"? (i.e. how much cheaper than we already are)?

Not by me it's not, the same applies to everybody else who is complaining that prices weren't specially discounted.
