My comment wat not an attack on Rob but more of a 'aren't there more people who can help on these days' type of question...

Hello everyone.
Just thought I'd drop by and thank everyone for their comments on the day. It was the largest single event the club has ever organised, and as such there were undoubtedly going to be a few teething troubles. As it turned out though, the majority of attendees agreed that it was a tremendous day. I would even go a s far as to say that it was a world record gathering of Imprezas in one place!!!!
At the very least we've learnt some valuable lessons for next yearsd event, which WILL use the whole of the paddock area and therefore WILL be much bigger AND better.
Yes, there were some instances on the odd driver perhaps not driving with as much etiquette as some would like, but equally as much as it's NOT a race, drivers ARE supposed to let faster cars through and NOT hold them up on the straights. This does not excuse impatient 'tail-gating' into braking areas, but all in all I was very pleased with the standard of driving.
So to all those critics that have slammed the club and especially myself over recent months.....
Stef.

Well i thought it was a great day!
what did annoy me though was when i came upon other scoobs that were slower through the bends i couuldnt pass on the straights but then got held up through the next series of corners.
i know its not a race but thats why you can ease off and let another car through, which was obviouly quicker as it caught you in the first place.
i quite hapily moved out of the way and backed off a little when peope caught me.
a couple of times i was following a group of evos and a couple of scoobs moved over for the evos and then saw a uk impreza and thought its only a uk and blocked me which in a uk impreza is a bugger as it took a little time to get it rolling nicely! i was running slicks which gave me a little extra speed through the cornere hence catching more standard cars.
but the day was enjoyable
and thanks to kevin F Sti7 for a entertaining 6-7 laps when i was following you who was that evo black 1-2 that spun off?
and coffeeman/dale who pushed me on nicely for a good few laps the shot past me!D

Ooh, sounds like I missed a good one in some ways and a bad one in others...
I'd like to add at this point that an Exige will spend all day overtaking Caterhams at Donington (since it's about the only argument there hasn't been in this thread)

Amada did like mellow driving and got over the sick feeling by about 5:30pm! lol
PTMW
yep..let you go as my tyres don't feel too good on the bends!
then the Evo5 came up..let him pass too.
the silver wagon behind me could not get passed though...i pulled in to let him by but he just didnt have the power??!!! so i kept going and only saw him on the bends i was taking steady!!
I still have a few stickers left though for the SIDC
Email me if you want any

You had the facility to discuss this yesterday ?
I brought it up because I was replying to Paul Clarke who said he enjoyed the "spectacle".
Would it be possible for you to cool it down next time ? We all make the odd mistake, and can wander off the circuit. But we shouldn't shrug it off and keep making that same mistake.

"That guy in the EVO 7"...
This was the second occasion the driver had driven Donnington and as the day progressed was becoming more confidant and quicker with each subsequent lap.
On the occasion you refer, I was in the passenger seat of that vehicle. I was unaware that the driver of the Exige was behind until I was told as such. basically it went something like "he's too close for comfort"
The thoughts at the time were that it was best to let him through, since if one is "pushed", "egged on" on the track, mistakes are going to happen.
It made sense whilst bearing down on the other car on the track to let you both through, a signal from myself indicated your man could go through, a signal which was received and acknowledged by your driver.
However, after that point, there was no "red mist" by the EVO driver, it was commented on how good the Exige is and how it handled, both cars were pretty evenly matched in performance terms.
And at no point did EVO driver become competitive because your man had passed us. I like self preservation, so would have put a stop to that if I had felt he wasn't in control of the car.

Was a cracking day out, nice to see people and put faces to names. Was great to catch up with old friends aswell.
Cheers to those who offered rides etc. (One day Cem.... one day!)
Highlight of the day was being in the Exige behind Mellow (gravel aside). He had some nice 4 wheel drifts going on and laying a fair amount of rubber. (when he was on the tarmac!)
Down point of the day was driving the Exige back and forgetting to put a booster cushion in it (the seat is bolted in place.... you can stop laughing now!) and finding I couldnt quite put the clutch down properly as I came to the t junctions at the exit of the pits!
Bri
(Quick bitch: Can people not block the garages up? Saw loads of people trying to get through from behind the garages to the pitlane and finding it impossible.)

Hi Adam
I went out in the EVO in the morning session and also late on in the afternoon and definitely noticed that confidence was building within the driver since the car wasn't quite as *nervous* going through some of the bends later on in the day.
From within the EVO, David's car went round the track like he was on a Sunday drive through the countryside. looked very well sorted. Sounds like a missed opportunity for me to go out in it
David,
The EVO driver never mentioned anything about seeing how good his car was against your Exige, I think, to be honest, he was more concerned about the integrity of his own car, since gear and brake problems surfaced in the afternoon. Most of the twisty bits had to be taken in 4th since 3rd was proving to be elusive to get into on occasions.
With that in mind I think he was so focussed on the problems, he never realised you were there and was taken aback when he seen your car behind him, cause you were never mentioned until the point prior to where you overtook us.

Nice to see a Honda was there hassling the Scoobs , taking up where I left off, would have loved to have been there, for the usual banter, but work took hold all day sunday so couldnt even get there for part of the day.
Looks like the thread has gone its usual direction after a trackday.
Mellow, David both of which I have passengered with are very good courtious drivers, and IMHO find people tend to moan about the quicker drivers, as this happened at Anglesay last month I had 2 complaints about my driving, fortunatly I had the instructor in with me, and as it happened Mr Porker and Mr Maserati, were miffed a likle 1.6 kept lapping them , obviously thinking a CTR was being driven beyond its capabilities.
See you all soon

I too agree it was a good day, also i agree there was not many or if any at all marshal’s about.
Hope blue is ok, and yes there was also over taking on the bends i saw a few when i stood watching at the sharp bend or corner
Pity the day was cut short, and i was lead to believe it was till 6pm not 5pm anyway, so did a few others.
Also no rain when we all expected it and i have a red face from the sun.
By the way i was the lady with blond hair jeans with diamonds down the side, red belt and white T Shirt and sun glasses in a red WRX, number plate WRX.

Sam,
lol I like the way michelle refers to you coming on here, when you are an old school member.
If I had known it was you in the evo I would have come up and introduced myself as I dont believe we have met in person.
Just to point out, that david wasn't ranting and raving on this thread, the only person who brought it up with reference to the exige, was me.
I thought something was amiss. David was certainly not phased by it from what I can tell, and since he is the driver, I suppose it is his opinion that counts. So dont worry, I dont think you are in the dog house as such!

So theres a nerdy w@nker in the middle (Adams verdict) some sort of missing link type "human" on the left and a bloke playing with his helmet on the right.
Reckon Shaggy100 was right about the Scoob lot
Edited to sort out Messulam syndrome

I am not even going to discuss Blowdog disease!

Then the experienced guys must help the newbies. Take time to speak to them (in a positive way) maybe offer to show them some lines?
A newbie may have time to react to a slower car closing up, but if you are driving much quicker than the car in front, then they may not have seen you at all. You must be patient.
I believe big orange stickers may have helped (as we did back in October/November) - I hope this proves helpful for next time.
