Nightmare,
You sad git, I only hope you were joking and Peugeot 106 Diesel is a euphemism for Lamborghini Diablo SV with 600+bhp! At least come in the SE or Mantura - or are they all THAT unreliable!? (I'll lend you my tow-bar....!)
C'mom Night (to coin a phrase) - show us the money!!!!
LOL

I'll be back there in the good 'ol flamethrower. I advise you pesky Scoobs not to drive too close to the back of me when I've been out a while unless you want to get toasted .
It'll be my second go at Donington so I'll still be taking it relatively easily. I'll actually try and get round to some instruction this time .
Last time Donington didn't allow back seat passengers - I had a few people wanting rides and didn't get round to them. Anyone know why that was and how the Listers cars got exemptions? (Especially when the drivers were about the rudest out there)
Anyway, see you all there.

What time is it starting.
If I'm free, I'll come down.
Not sure if I'm hitting the track but I'll like to check out the other Scoobs down there.
See Ya!

Track action usually starts at 9'ish with a breifing about 8:15/8:30'ish. Times arent written in stone because the signup process can take a while, as people arrive late.

I'll be there.
Just a small point for those considering their first track day.
Last night in icy conditions, I pulled out from a T junction. I looked both ways, nothing coming. Half way out, noted that from the left, a Golf GTi bearing down at a rate a knots. So I floored it. Thats when I found out it was icy. Tail end out, sideways slide towards the parked car opposite. Without even thinking, corrected the slide, pointed her straight forward and carried on my merry way.
Point of story. I honestly believe that my reaction was due to the amount learnt on my first trackday (at donnington in Nov.) These events are not just for speed freaks wishing to secretly time their fastest lap (but hey, thats fun too) but also for those that wish to learn about the true handling of their car without wrapping it around a lampost if they try too hard. Go for it. Do it once though and you're hooked
P.S. Same probably applies for the MIRA days (must get on one of those)

Stef - yeah, ok! Btw can't believe I wrote you're very "quite" instead of quiet.. amateur finger error.
Don't worry, I won't wave at you at all this time.. looking forward to seeing you sideways as I didn't see that last time!!

As part of my attempt to blag some laps (anyone, anyone, anyone... ), I will need to buy a skid lid.
What sort of money do they cost? I've been looking at Demon Tweeks web site and full face FIA approved ones start at £165 .
They have an open face one for £55, but it's not FIA approved (is this important)? Are these allowed for track days ie in car use?
Or do you just pop down the bike shop and buy something cheaper (how much?)?
Cheers,
Chris.

If you're going to buy a lid, don't go to Demon Tweeks - they are a tad on the expensive side. Find a reasonable m/cycle shop & get it there - cheaper for same helmet
DaveU - Never know, I could be convinced to take a ride in your motor. It sounded nice over the phone tonite! In the meantime, buy SBK - World Superbike & get used to Donno that way (very accurate & u can work out your braking points etc. Only missing G to be a true representation).

I wouldn't have anything other than a Class A helmet, but then I ride a bike and am paranoid about having the best protection I can get. A Class A/Gold helmet doesn'thave to cost the earth - somehting which is for occasional use (so you're not that bothered about, say, how fiddly the visor is to replace, or whether it's noisy/heavy)can be yours for the £100-120 mark from any bike shop.
It might seen a bit OTT, but you only have one head, and the difference in price isn't that great.
No need to go mad and get an Arai RX7 though!!
Mike - you're SO right about the different turn-in/braking/passing points for bikes and cars - I did a car track day at Brands about 10 years ago, then 2 years later did it on a bike. I couldn't believe I was getting it so wrong!

Granted - but as a guide to the course itself, it is very useful for someone thats never been there. I've been trackside @ Donno quite often & round Brands a few times & the view you get could almost be the same as you get when you are really there. Good for learning the layout.
I was given the game as a pressie & I just can't keep the thing upright! Luckily when I ride a real bike, I'm a lot better

Reading about helmets, what about seat belts. Are the standard ones ok, or should we be looking at 4/6 point harnesses???

the original TOCA playstation game has a pretty realistic layout of donnington.
Also, buy the autosport circuit guide and the READ it.
Its definately worth the money, takes a bit of getting into but does help a lot with turn in points when on a new track to you.
re-read it after each run, you will be surprised how each time you pick up a little tip from it as your confidence grows.
cheers
