HRH the Neon King, the neons idea actually came a few years back after reading an article in the Wall Street Journal describing it as the latest fad for car owners in the States, thought that is a nice retiremenbt project. If you have a good design in hand, the next thing is to get it reverse engineered in a low cost country like China as I believe it is quite price sensitive. If you can bring it down to say 50 quids a set, people will be knocking down your door to get them.
Cheers to your next million.

Hey you, stole my idea and want to rub it in some more, wait till you hear from my lawyers. Are your US sourced neons made in China? Everything supposedly high tec I bot from US seems to be made there nowadays. Any interest in genuine 'Rollex' gold watches anyone? only 100 quids FOB (real high quality stuff, even weigh and feel the same, not those fakes you can spot a mile away), or the latest DVD movie (before they even hit the cinemas) for 4 quids?

Phil, reading these posts somehow made me feel I can bask in all your 'glory'. Have you got those glowing ice cubes yet? Have your lawyers done up the royalty agreement to be signed with me yet or should my lawyers get in touch with yours?
Another idea just came to mind, Phil, for those who have not quite made up their mind about going underbody neons yet, try giving them a temporary fix with one of those chemical 'glow sticks' that last a few hours and cost only a quid or two, real disposable. Almost the same effect
Also, see if you can hook something up that can give a red neon effect to the brakes area, makes them look glowing hot when in fast lane traffic.

HRH, you'll be surprised how low prices can be in China. At one time, I was interested in producing laser crystals in Malaysia after having bot one overseas and was pretty impressed by it. Cost me USD 145 plus tax then in the States.

Then I sourced a supplier of the equipment from Russia (the Ruskies invented the process while testing the fire power of lasers during the Cold War) and was negotiating the deal, with a budgeted cost of USD 20 per piece, and thought I can clean up compared to the Yanks prices. Then my mate showed me a sample from China at USD 2 a piece wholesale. No doubt they use cheaper glass instead of high lead content crystal glass and have lower resolution, but there is no way my costing can match them, even the raw glass block costs more than that. So there goes my million $ idea #2. (you know what was #1, lol). So whatever your American cost is, budget one-tenth of that before VAT and duties as your starting point when sourcing from China, so that is how you get the whole thing down to 50 quids.
