Aircon - not as cold as I remember
#31
Hi,
I've just called the autoclimate dealer who are looking at my car. They haven't found any problems - they have just serviced it, cost about £75.
I'll check with them exactly what they have checked and how cold it it now.

rjh,
my MY00 aircon only seems to blow cool air, not cold air - more noticeable when the weather outside is hot, like it has been recently.
Coolair (three posts above) had a look at it last year when i complained about it, but you only really notice it in the summer.
The car in for it's 30,000 mile tomorrow, so i will see what the garage says.

I've got my car back now. It's definitely colder - still takes a short while to get going tho (probably down to the puny fan). It's cold enough to make my hands go numb now
For those interested this is what they did.
Drain all fluids.
Connect the system up to a drying/draining machine for 45 minutes to an hour. This takes all the moisture / dirt / crap out of the system and cleans it.
A vaccum is created in the system and left to check that there are no leaks. (There weren't).
They then fill the system up with oil + fluid + dye (to check again for leaks) + run the system to make sure it's OK.
All in it was £75 - good value when you consider what they do. Just waiting for a hot day to really test the system
