You should see it alot sooner being a 2.1 I had it on the rcm for 2 years and when the ring in June it let go coming home and had a few options but I'm glad I went xona 450 with 3" intake more air more cooling more performance the xona does over 500 on meth now at 2 bar
would be good to see your graph when finshed pal.
Are you still on std size intake ?

The thing I have found is a lot of things are breaking when taking off the car. I was hoping to save a bit of money and use the intake I have (silicone) but haven't asked my tuner if this needs replacing to make better use of the turbo. Still missing a few pieces of the puzzle. Money being an issue as usual lol.

rcm500 is big and laggy on 2.0,no surprise xona450 spools faster on 2.0 but rcm500 shine on 2.1l where xona 450 will choke itself around 500hp mark being smaller turbo with worst spool on 2.1
like i said mine rcm500 had 120lbft more at 4k revs with 2.4" intake
I sat and laugh looking on xona graph lag
Your engine setup was wrong for rcm500 -160 horses on 4k revs and xona did 240 on petrol where mine rcm500 did 320 on petrol at 4k revs
Rcm500 is superior turbo on 2.1l,it spools as early as my old vf37 and on my setup it holds torque very well where it looks like Your heads do not do job they should or You have other issue, torque is falling like a stone.
Joe has nothing to add for this tread,if he will owe xona on 2.1 with at least graph to back up his claims than we could speak
5530 turbo was very good and upgraded rcm500 is still good choice
I have graph single scroll rcm500 on 2012 2.5l ,dual avcs fmic it shows 20lbft less at 4k revs ,same mapper thats proves not always bigger capacity engine works better lower down, its down to headers upipe ,fmic vs tmic and list goes on than You could be surprised with xona being laggy even on 2.1

Been taking to Matt baker and I'm going to take the stock engine to 450 on 99 and I'll see what it makes on meth.

I'll get the JDM heads rebuilt ready and when the engine dose go I'll go the 2.1 strocker route

thats a good shout pal isten to your tuner
my std v7 factory forged 207 engine been around 450 / 550 for 6 + years with all the right mods and I'm on syvecs so all saftey setting are set .I've done a bit of sprinting and tracks including the ring so they are good for it.

But others say you must go 2.1 and rcm 500 as it is the bestest in the whole world turbo in stock position for instantant power no lag.

read what you wrote ...
The xona 450 and any other 450 turbo will struggle at 500+ thats why you would go bigger if you wanted more power but as the thread origanally asked for a 450 build ?

The precision was allready on my car and I've gone through various stages and it was also mapped by a few before including jolly green monster who said to previous guy the rcm 500 is not the right turbo for 450 at the time

Your the reason people don't tell there story and advice because you seem to know it all.
I know who I'd listen too and advice I would take and unfortunately you wouldn't be the one.

What's the mileage on your if you don't mind me asking. Matt said they will do a compressor test etc before the commit to doing it

Even if I get 2 years out of it gives me more time to save for a better engine spec. I don't really do many miles in it now as it's normal going to shows or a quick hour out on the weekends

@Hawkins 1995 guess who my tuner is...................its Matty at MB Developments . He was the one ho told me to speak to Tim ***, he also sorted out the forged engine in my old classic. Just ask him about my build, although I wouldn't recommend it as it has spiralled out of control.

I'm the guy from brum trying (unsuccessfully) to build a blue type r limited.

@Basky 202 Take no notice of him he's deluded he can't string a sentence together in English. You have an idea how many engines and gearboxes I have built over the years and no one seems to be complaining yet. So just let him spout his rubbish as usual. The RCM500/Precision is old tech nowadays so it's not even worth discussing. Had a couple of people on the phone tonight looking for advice and they said they're not posting on either forum cause the illiterate know it all keeps sticking his nose in where it is not wanted.

Thats annoying mate. There might be things I don't know or hadn't considered but someone else posts about an issue or a route they are thinking of that could assist someone else on their journey. I don't have the money or the desire to just hand over my car and say "build it like whatever". I want to know whats going into it and if its to my wants/needs. Sourcing parts etc.

I think you misunderstood Joe. If people aren't wanting to post on the forums because its not a "safe" space then it means its like FB where most of us don't go on due to the responses we are receiving. Also the sort of knowledge that can be picked up, random things like a certain aftermarket part fouls the manifold or a part that isn't on the approved list actually works. Just an example but you get the idea. I quite liked the Type RA forum for discussions, would normally find you, John, Alyn or Mr RA responding. Like the cam profiles and how different companies measure from different points so they aren't all "fair".

Keep responding and sharing we might not always agree but that doesn't mean we can't share our knowledge.
