Just an update
As you predicted it was pretty scabby in arches.
Stumbled across this last night jap import unfortunately not STI but rot free and in my price range.
Only problem is it's automatic. Can a conversion be done fairly straight forward with a doner car and time in the future?

Yes it can be done. There is a fair about or wiring to be done but you can buy conversion kits.

I'd cost it all up before you pull the trigger.
