Yes 272’s on mine. Allowed me to make 100lbft extra at 4krpms with quad AVCS, and will happily rev to 8k, but I’m not making power up there on my current turbo.

I think the Spec C are 270 inlet and 290 exhaust, I could be wrong.

Cheers for the feed back guys, when I started out 450bhp was my limit now I’ve come to realise after more research my block or cylinders may be the issue if I started to go above 500bhp on the EJ257, I have the FP black and don’t want to make the car undriveable as it is still a daily at the min, did have read of ur build list danjo but without stage 2 cams maybe stage 1, would like the engine to be more efficient at makeing the power with less boost as I have decided co cap the boost at 1.7bar when new ECU goes in but would be nice to see 500bhp won’t be disappointed as I think it’s great as is but when the time comes to refresh just get the following done. From CNC heads or somewhere similar and call it a day until funds build up for a 2.5 billet block or something.
-Brian Crower stage 1 camshafts
-Supertech cam followers
-Supertech double valve springs
-Supertech titanium retainers
-Supertech nitrided inlet valves
-Supertech inconel exhaust valves
-Supertech valve seats
-Supertech viton valve stem seals
-porting and polishing as applicable

Thats the crux of it ultimately, standard EJ257 case halves are known to crack over 550bhp ish. Some see more power, some have failed at standard power, it’s a lottery due to the inconsistency of the standard liner thickness. When you start honing/boring for next size up pistons you are taking away further liner thickness.

Stage 1 cans are pretty much the same as STI cams, you won’t really see much of a difference. At your power level the standard cams will be fine.

If you are looking for 500bhp but capping your boost at 1.7bar then consider going for a flex fuel setup with a 20% or 30% meth mix. This will help you achieve that figure. You may struggle on pump fuel. The FP Black is a laggy turbo for what you are looking to achieve, something like a GTX3076R or Precision 5530 would be much more responsive.

Yea flex fuel has bin mentioned but am on the shelf about it at min, don’t know will see when other parts are all done. I really don’t mind the lag I just drop a gear it suits my driving style granted a smaller turbo would be more responsive. Will have to see when we turn up the boost.

Meth on flex fuel is a no brainer really. Runs the same boost levels but more aggressive timing for better boost response, more power and its burns cooler. There’s really no downside to it.

i will put new ecu when available, You already have 14mm studs and I will rise a boost ,maybe You will see close to 500 horses on petrol.
Add flex fuel, 7k revs is enough on 2.5l.
Another engine removal just for heads work it will be waste of money when looking what You got already fitted.

Id have to read up on it meth that is as it’s not something I’d ever considered, but ur selling me on it tho 😂 . Yea true, but am not comfortable about having standard heads on power I am on, at a minimum I want valves done, I don’t rev past 7k but it’s to close for my liking I’d rather do everything I can and give it a chance and more room up top and have some peace of mind than have it mess up and kick myself for at least not dropping in uprated valves, as it’s going to *** apart I thought may as well make it better or more efficient at makeing power maybe with less boost. if the heads were already done and I was running same boost 1.5bar maybe my power would be better ?
