Mine is a late 14 plate so has the revised parts plus it has a comprehensive service history and warranty so I'm not concerned.

Jaguar oil service schedule is every 15k which is bonkers even for a non-performance engine.
the oil in mine has been changed around 6 or 7 times in its life and has just tucked past 57k. I will be getting the oil changed every 12 months regardless of mileage covered (only average around 4k per year).

I'm more concerned about the washer fluid pump leaking as it runs down a pipe into the drivers footwell and fries the ecu........£3k + if that happens.
need to get mine checked out to see if it has the revised part (£70 part if not) and get it changed.

All in all thogh it feels a solid car, I was worried about having a jag but to be fair it feels well screwed together and 800 miles around Cornwall didn't upset it.

still debating on what to do in December when the warranty runs out........

Option 1 is to renew it @ £110 per month and not be able to tune it

Option 2 is to have no warranty and stage 1 tune it to 600bhp 😀

Option 3 is to renew the warranty and tune it to 600 bhp, the warranty wouldn't cover the engine/gearbox but should cover all the other bits which could easily add up to big bills if something went wrong.

Rear dIff's have been known to go but they are around £2k so not the end of the world.
gearbox failures are pretty much unheard of unless really mis-treated.
Engine failures are not common unless its early models with timing issues. Plenty of people tune these to 650bhp and 850nm with no issues.
Superchargers can have snout issues but again its only about £1500 for a full rebuild IF it needs doing (labour intensive job)
well hopefully you won’t have the issue but don’t worry because you will hear it if it starts to go, great engine in a great big range so must be awesome in the jag 600bhp has to be done! Lol

it is a fantastic engine, not the quietest or most refined but delivers power by the bucket load and is smooth as silk doing so.

I was told the current mustang has the same engine aswell so it goes to show how good it is for the years it’s been in use and the
expensive motors they put it in.

I have heard this a few times however i dont believe it to be true, the current mustang engine is a coyote engine and can handle upwards of 800-900 bhp maybe more as plenty of people are tuning them with high bhp in mind, I've never seen or heard of the current 5.0v8 AJ133 jag lump going past 700bhp, think the most I've seen is 675bhp with 900+NM.
im pretty sure the jag v8 was an all new design from jag and not from ford, perhaps they share some similarities.

Interesting I just thought the newer engines were just a bit stronger hence they could make a bit more power, the Ford engine could be a relative of the jag lump that wouldn’t surprise me that’s how they all save money these days sharing parts

You didn't go down the A30 to Land's End the other week? I saw a black Jag heading up the line.

100% agree although plenty of people in the UK are tuning the mustang to insane levels of power.

Well just tried out my new 30ft anti-kink hose with swivel stubby gun and quick release nozzles.......
shrekky is happy, such a joy to get rid of that ****e karcher hose and gun.
I advise anybody looking to make their car washing easier to invest in one of these, with the new nozzles the rinse down was effortless.

So I've got the jaaaaaaag booked in for a full de-chrome, braces behind the front grill wrapped in gloss red and rear light tint.
if funds allow will also get some 20mm rear and 15mm front H&R hubcentric spacers fitted.
going to get the supercharged lettering painted red soon once the weather calms down.
ramair filters should be fitted this week so it will finally sound like a supercharged car.
also thinking of getting the engine cover hydro-dipped in forged carbon and getting the lettering painted.
bidding on some speed pack front splitters aswell......
Happy happy 😊

if only that was a simple question to answer. yes i would love to get a map & smaller pulley on the supercharger but i will wait and see what happens with the country/cost of living crisis/recession etc etc
if i did get it mapped i would probably still keep the warranty going, i know that it wouldnt cover engine/supercharger/gearbox etc but there are so many other things it would cover which could lead to big bill's.
things like -
air con compressor
head lights
door actuators
gear selector
revolving air vents
window mechanisms etc
if i did go ahead with it i would run the car through swallows racing jag specialists prior to getting it tuned, if it needed any work on the engine/diff/supercharger i would get that done on the warranty before tuning it.
supercharger snout bearings can fail and its around £1300 to fix.
600bhp and 800nm would be a stage 1 and with a lower pulley and upgraded chargecooler it would reach 650 and nearly 900nm...........

So finally managed to get my **** into gear and paint the lettering in the bonnet vents, went on easy taking around 3 layers per side.
left some hazing once wiped off so polished it off, need to go out later and do inbetween the letters.
certainly an improvement me thinks.....

so managed to source a set of used spires back boxes for the jag at the weekend, spires are about (or were as they are now discontinued) the best rear boxes you can get for the xfr. not too loud on cold start and a nice deep V8 roar under load.
im only down the road from spires so i will get them to install them and have a 4 wheel alignment done whilst im there.this will be in a few weeks as the car goes to wraptor next week for full de-chrome,rear light tint, carbon mirrors and 20mm spacers all round

bought the rear boxes off this guy

After that the mods will be on hold until after Xmas, got some big services come up on the car along with tax and warranty renewal.
gearbox service.
Engine service.
Diff service.
Inspect washer pump and replace with uprated part if it's the old one.
New battery as still on the original so for peace of mind through winter I would like a new one.
That little lot along with tax and warranty will be around £3k.....

Tax is £630 currently..........not bothered either as long as it keeps me away from those ****e electric cars i would pay £1000 a year.
