So.....my new car

hey guys hope ya'll well & safe

i finally bit the bullet and got myself a new car, as you probably know i have been after an f10 m5 for a long time now BUT the prices have shot up pushing past what i am comfortable spending so sadly it was not meant to be however i still had an itch to scratch.........a V8 itch and it was the only other car that i found myself constantly looking at so i took the plunge.
it was located up in glasgow so my wife and i went up there last night and grabbed a hotel, went around the christmas market and town centre (fantastic city and much more beautiful than i expected) then grabbed a taxi down to the dealers this morning.
its a 14 plate that has a comprehensive service history, its actually been over serviced and really really well looked after. 3 owner car with 53k on the clock.
managed to wangle in a spark plug service, brake fluid change, next major service carried out and 12 months mot/warranty along with a front bumber respray due to stone chips.all 4 wheels just been refurbed and clad with michelin ps4'2 with around 6.5mm tread left.
got home around 2 hours ago and all i can say is............its ****ing awesome, the power delivery is instant and it just pulls and pulls without effort. the chassis feels planted and its super comfy, its so much more than i expected it to be
off to mallory performance tomorrow to get a quote on de-chroming it and then it will be having some rear boxes installed to unleash the V8 rumble.
truly amazed by it, its fantastic

That the 5.0 sc v8 is it? Quite a well respected engine that one especially in the range rover world. People dread the petrol bill when they hear 5.0 v8 but even tho my daily is a 4.2 v8 range rover I still find it somewhat economical and not as bad as what everyone thinks. Knowing how quick a 5.0 range is i can only imagine how quick the xfr is.

Yes mate 5.0 v8 supercharged. 503bhp 461ftlbs.
it's got a relentless pull on it, 50-70 is ridiculous.
**** the petrol consumption.......I'm enjoying it before greta and her brainwashed environmental activists get them banned for ever

its lovely to drive mate, its like a modern day muscle car, there is the rumble in the background from the V8 and with a stab of the throttle it reaches silly speeds very quickly or you can just relax into the leather seats stick it in drive and just chillout without a care in the world.
@ 70mph the engine was barely doing 1500rpm and returned 30mpg which i was happy with

JdmSti2006 18 December 2021 07:20 AM

hedgecutter 18 December 2021 09:23 AM

Good job. But need photo evidence of cloth cap and leather driving gloves.

The Joshua Tree 18 December 2021 10:57 AM

Subaru to a Jaguar, ive never seen that route before, OMP race gloves to brown and cream leather gloves and a pipe.

hedgecutter 18 December 2021 11:23 AM

Forgot the pipe!!

bunsofsteeeel 18 December 2021 03:31 PM

My brother has the RRS 5L supercharged one it’s not slow he loves the thing but it is crap on fuel lol, I think the mustangs run this engine as well

Vxr2010 18 December 2021 03:47 PM

big respect for powerful rwd cars , that’s why i have my scoobies as a daily drive , my 5.7 na but tuned 440 bhp same foot pound and does 36 mpg , and motorway speed is slightly above idle , 6.2 v8 500 bhp plus 500 ft pound , again 36mpg on a long run , both wheel spin on drag days all the way to 100 mph in the wet , don’t always reply on tc to help you , if there’s no grip then there’s no grip 👍😁

thanks for all your help earlier in the year mate even if I didn't go for a vxr8 it was nice learning about them.
loving the instant power delivery of the V8 so far :)

johno01 18 December 2021 07:01 PM

That jag is in a different league. Plenty of power with the luxurious element too. I get the feeling you will miss the rawness of a scooby as everyone does but bad backs etc dictate circumstances not what you want....she looks sweet Shrek, give us you imput, opinion....👍

Vxr2010 18 December 2021 07:06 PM

lol no problem , can’t beat the noise and grunt of a v8😂 (but still like my scoobies as they are good all rounders ) best option would be a v8 scooby , but it’s too big an engine to swap and you can’t keep the four wheel drive system 👍

I will update as I go on with it. Was hoping to test dynamic mode earlier but it was raining so avoided temptation.

good! Don’t end up in a hedge or something big man........if I could I’d love to afford the Subaru and a daily like an golf r, s3, s4 etc....gotta be 4wd with power but since I work 6 days a week, 12 hour days...I’d be paying a lot of money to use a nice car 1 day a week.....nevermind the fact I can use the work van....when I’m older I will be following the same route as you shrek 👍👍

I work 6 days a week 10-11 hours shifts but **** it I don't care, the way the world is going mate we will be priced off the road so enjoy it whilst you can. Times are changing and not for the best in my opinion.
I feel like getting a sticker made for the back window of the jag saying "huge v8 inside... .**** you greta" lol
Not only that but the government are apparently trying to ban all car modifications (called tampering I think).
They are taking away our freedom piece by piece mate and creating a big-brother state.......

silver-sub 19 December 2021 12:28 AM

Beautiful car.

the shreksta 19 December 2021 10:49 AM

So here's the service history for my car, seems it's been really well looked after. its a 2014 plate with the warranty active from 10/2014 but it wasnt delivered until feb 2015 so maybe either sat around in the dealership as a pre-reg.
delivered on feb 2015 with 1 mile on the clock
1st service was jan 2016 @ 5792 miles no details of what was done though just says service related items (guessing just oil & filter)
2nd service was feb 2017 @ 13290 miles oil & filter & pollen filter
both of the above were done at the same dealership then everything else since then up to me buying the car was done @ taggarts jaguar dealership in glasgow, guessing thats when it changed hands to the new owner.
3rd service was aug 2017 @ 14476 miles oil & filter, brake fluid & air filter
4th service was march 2018 @ 19690 miles oil & filter, pollen filter & air filter (biggest mileage gap between services @ around 13k)
5th service was march 2019 @ 32239 miles oil & filter
6th service was march 2020 @ 42849 miles oil & filter, pollen filter & electronic health check (whatever that is) second biggest mileage gap between services @ approx 10k
7th service was march 2021 @ 47514 miles oil & filter & electronic health check
8th service was dec 2021 @ 53215 miles oil & filter, air filter, pollen filter, spark plugs & brake fluid change

couple of things im not a fan of is this online service history, i like bundles of receipts to sift through to see every item replaced.
not a fan of these long life service schedules, jag say 15k between oil changes......**** that especially on a performance car. this car will have a oil change every year regardless.
not a fan of these keyless entry systems, 3 times now ive left the car with the key still in the cup holder.

plans for the car
at some point in the next year it will be having a gearbox service and diff oil change, **** this sealed for life nonsense. i have a popular land rover specialist in my home town so they will be doing the work and i will get them to check the water pump aswell as thats a known weak point.
after that i would like the following
-disable the auto start/stop as its ****ing annoying,I can turn it off every time I get in with the eco button but would just prefer to get rid of it altogether.
- de-chrome window surrounds/boot strip/grill surround and air dam surrounds
- pair of spires back boxes to release the v8 sound
- machine polish and ceramic coat
- H&R wheel spacers 20mm rear maybe just 10mm front as the wheels dont quite fill out the arches
- some carbon fibre pieces rear diffuser/bonnet vents/paddle shifter extensions
- calipers re-painting and the jaguar logo with the word supercharged underneath it adding on to them
- steering wheel is bland to say the least, there are no shaped grip area's it just feels dull so will be looking for a company to make it flat bottom with some shaped grips added aswell.

thats it for now, not tuning it whilst its under warranty.if it proves to be a reliable beast then i will be tempted to have the smaller supercharger pulley & remap to give 600bhp and 600+ftlbs.
for now im just enjoying it,the car feels solid like a tank, i had concerns with it being a JLR product but it really does feel well screwed together.
loving it

Nice car bud....
Will you be returning to Glasgow for a proper visit when covid and weather permits? I worked there for years and the city centre is great although I probably prefer Edinburgh for a short break.

thanks buddy, yes me and the wife both said we would return to spend more time up there and take the jag on some proper driving roads. we both like a bit of history so would look at viewing some museums/castles etc etc. edinburgh is deffo on the hit list

Cspeedie 21 December 2021 05:01 PM

Well Done Shreksta ,
That car will sound magnificent. You are correct about our roads , at the right time of day , tremendous runs are possible through the glens etc. 30 mpg , bloody good going , the best I have had out of my spec c is 20 mpg and that was sitting at 70 driving home on the motorway when I bought it.
I generally get 10 to the gallon when i'm on a mission.
I agree **** that little **** Greta.
Speeds.
