I could do with some of that; pretty much every attractive woman I find on Tinder demands that I have to be over 6ft to qualify as a match

I’ve had covid back in November (thanks to kids going back to school and spreading it) and had my jab Friday. I had the Oxford Astra Zeneca and 11 hours later whilst asleep I had a severe reaction which was extremely unpleasant. I was told by who treated me I was very unlucky but those who have had covid and have the Oxford jab are more prone to a reaction although not usually as bad as the reaction I had. I will be raising a yellow ticket with the NHS to report what happened.

I am not trying to put anyone off having it only stating some people are unlucky and do have a reaction to it and appears more common if you’ve already had covid.

I had violent uncontrolable shaking of my body and limbs to the point I could barely hold my phone. I’m not talking about a bit of shivering it was extreme/exagerated shaking and I had no control in trying to stop it. My temp also went from normal to very high in a matter of minutes instead of the normal gradual increase. At the time never having experienced anything like it I was worried I was about to fit. It’s not something I ever wish to experience again I know that much.

Sounds quite unpleasant, but extremely rare side effect, temporary and (hopefully) no lasting consequences other than an immunity to Covid.

There is always a risk with any medication, but the overall value to the population as a whole negates the risks for a very small number of individuals. The problem with vaccine hysteria and the like is that you hear about every negative experience, but nothing about the millions of positive experiences. If everyone who was vaccinated with no side effects posted about it, they would drown out the limited few with side effects!

Glad you're ok and vaccinated

I too had the AZ vaccine and had a reaction. Thankfully mine wasn't as severe as yours An0n0m0us. I had my jab at 9am and by 6pm I had the shivers and felt extremely tired. I took a couple of paracetamol and went to bed. Next day I was fine.

My wife also had the AV vaccine and had no side effects at all. She had Covid in April.

Hope you have no long lasting after effects.

Thanks and yep like I said I didn't post to put anyone off. I would still have it although knowing what I know now I would dose up on paracetemol for the following 24 hours.

Thanks me too, all day Saturday I felt like death warmed up but Sunday after a good nights sleep I was feeling much better. I had covid at the end of November so I do wonder if the antibodies I still have reacted with the vaccine because although not made public i've been told if you've had covid you are more likely to react to the OAZ vaccine so it must me something to do with antibodies

General consensus from people I know who've had both AZ and Pfizer is you'll feel like crap within 24hours, but ok the day after that.

I'm yet to have it, but to me I get the same side affects whenever I've had the flu jab, sometimes knocking me back for a few days afterwards. As such I think it's wise to book a day off work for the day after having your jab.

Wish the quacks were upfront with this; Like the flu jab, they play it down. But that's BS, and quite irresponsible if your having to drive distances or operate machinery and they say your fine but end up having a bad turn half way though your working day.

Our doctor said to head off some of the side effects is to take brufen or paracetamol with food shortly after the vaccine. This will take the edge of headaches, shivers etc

That could actually be bad advice if you want the maximum protection from the vaccine. After looking up side effects after my experience I found articles suggesting taking NSAIDs before the immune response is triggered could potentially reduce the effect of the vaccine due to supressing the immune response.

It seems an open discussion within the scientific circles as there is no proof either way yet but suspicions are there that supressing the immune response is a negative thing to do. Once you've had the immune response i.e. have the side effects then take the suppressants.

Here's just one link https://www.healthline.com/health-ne...VID-19-vaccine (open in an incognito window to avoid cookies issues)

More recently, a study published this month in the Journal of Virology found that nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) — which include ibuprofen — reduced the production of antibodies and other aspects of the immune response to SARS-CoV-2.

A quick search on the web brings up plenty of reading on it but it makes sense that suppressing the very thing you need to happen probably isn't a good idea - i.e. the immune response.

The trial and certification process is the same, so it's safe, simple as.
The Labs already had a tonne of data and info to start from to get the vaccine ready. What people don’t realise is the virus is related to the SARS and MERS viruses that broke out at the beginning of the millennium and again a decade ago, so research on a coronavirus vaccine has been going on for quite some time.

True, the base elements of the vaccines are nothing new, although have not previously been used is large numbers. Modifying the vaccines to be effective against Covid is the more difficult part, but it's the testing off the vaccines that really took the most time before the vaccines could be rolled out.

Sure a few 😄

If they're that worried take mini aspirin for a week or two. Ive been taking it for nearly 10 years, prevention protocol. It has more benefits than downsides

My quack said to take a couple of painkillers once im back from having the jab just incase i get any reactions, mind you saying that i got my letter on Thursday telling me i can book a now book a slot, I've been trying every few hours since and ive still had no joy getting into my nearest vaccination point which is just down the high street from me😤 keep getting the same option of driving 10-15 miles for nearest available venue, im gonna wait till i can get in at my local place.

Our nearest vaccination site was 18 miles away, next 25 miles and 28 miles. We did the whole trip including vaccination in 90mins, returned home

Only stopped after I looked down from the ladder and a noticed a small pool of blood accumulating on the floor (tiled, thankfully). Took two hours to finally clot and stop oozing

Probably mild haemophilia, but I generally don't make a habit of cutting myself on a regular basis.

Yup, nothing severe, just mild aches, headache, lethargic; lasted a couple of days kind of thing and went away. Far better than full blown flu any day of the week.

Trying to get an appointment is a nightmare as there is hardly any places and by the time you get to the end to confirm the dates one of them is already taken so you have to start again. Had this happen at least seven times.
