The license on your Mothers boat must of been sold if the vessel had been in the scrappage scheme the hull would have to of been decommissioned (scrapped). There where alot of people who had nothing to do with the fishing industry jumped on the band wagon and in numerous ways made a fortune.

It would have if just the licence was sold. If it was decommissioned it would be no more.

Well, this thread took a turn I was not expecting. Ok so thanks guys I now know about UK fishing quotas and also which sea side towns are best to score an 8 ball. Classic SN.

So.... back OnT we have been house hunting and so far we have been looking in the area between Chester and Northwich. Some really good value for money property which I was not expecting with it being (to me) a posh area, some nice villages and pubs etc.

We are still keeping anywhere in mind though. Our back up plan if we don't find something will be to take a long term let somewhere warm for 6-12 months and then take it from there.

 

Without wanting to highlight a potential negative, but areas have both positive and negative traits. Have you looked at the green lighted M6 motorway improvement and expansion plan around the area you have recently mentioned? Traffic in the area has always been a big problem. Just a thought and may be worth investigating.
