VagTech are the people in MK who have done some good, reliable work on the Golf R. There were a couple of roadtests on uprated REVO cars they had done in Volkswagen Driver and Audi Driver before the mags went bust. I've had two cars remapped there - current A6 diesel Avant included.

Re the exhaust, it was the same with the S3 re two dirty pipes but I'm sure Vagtech article had an R with two larger bore exhausts only.

Yep, that's them. I'll pop and see them at some point to get the "Economy map" done on the wife's car!

If it's a 7.5 I'm sure they now have the valved exhaust on them like the hatch?
In a similar boat myself. Bought a new Octavia VRS estate DSG last year with a great saving through carwow, very capable car but getting its 230bhp down isn't always great through the front wheels. Knew I should have gone for a R then but didn't and starting to look into them again now!
Just deciding if the Impreza stays or goes?

So..... Today we went to see the golf R estate we wanted to buy from a VW main dealer. We went to buy a 2017 estate with 15k miles on it for £25k. Looked great in pictures and on paper, great spec. Got to garage to find it had been in an accident. Floor and sill on passanger side dented and pushed upwards, as was skirt, one new alloy etc, they hadn't disclosed this and told me they'd not noticed when it was traded in. They told me it only needed a new skirt, but without even bending down to look closely I could see the floor was bent. They had fitted the new wheel so had it up on the ramp and would have seen this. Crazy.

I was really annoyed as I'd dragged the whole family for a couple hours to drive and buy it after I'd reserved it. Not wanting to go away empty handed instead, we bought a new one (demo car) with every option under the sun fitted. I has an absolutely massive spec and is a fantastic car. Honestly couldn't be happier.

Picking it up Thursday. Can't wait.

Just checked and it looks like they've got the original one with the bent floor back up for sale as I didn't buy it. Honestly, the pictures don't do the damage justice, the dent goes from half way along under the front door all the way to the rear. Wheel arch. I suspect the car if costed to repair properly would be a write off. God knows what other damage was done when it was crashed too. Madness.

Hope you shamed them into getting a cracking deal ! Sometimes things are just meant to be. I would have been annoyed with them - thats not the standard they are 'allowed' to sell to. Bet you went round your new one with a fine toothcomb afterwards - looks good !

Probably too late now but the lease deals are so cheap it makes no sense actually buying one.
I dont know the spec you have but you must be on the borderline of the full digital dash which is amazing.
If I had another it would be top of the options list.
Amazingly capable cars but be aware it's a thief magnet, something you might want to consider with wife and kids in the house
Yep, this one has every single option fitted to it, there is nothing it doesn't have on it, digital dash, upgraded stereo, upgraded speakers, sub etc (all dynaudio), full sliding panoramic roof, additional installed in-car gps camera with remote download and remove movement activation, reversing camera, sensors, it's got the lot. It's quite an impressive machine to be honest. You totally forget you're sat inside a golf and it feels quite special to drive.

Very nice mate. Can't wait to pick ours up Thursday. I've already bought a Maxton front splitter for it and a few other bits.

Thanks mate, they are really great cars and I have certainly under-estimated just how good they are until now. Drove it too and from short holiday break this weekend and WOW, what a car!

Behind the times or not, at least your Subaru looks nice and exciting rather than looking like a boring golf

That's why I'm not selling the Subaru. I wanted something that was going to be exciting to drive, yet ate up the miles for family holidays, large, practical and reasonably economical whilst still being relatively like a sleeper. Think the Golf nails it perfectly to be honest and up close in person it's a very pretty car truth be told.

Yet I still get to drive my Subaru every day which is certainly no sleeper and certainly not subtle in any way!

Totally understand, my wife drives 40 miles each way to work everyday and guess what she has a golf, not as new or as flash as that but its well built, reliable, and comfortable.
