Pistols were pretty OK but better offerings than them and 'Anarchy' wasn't even the best of theirs IMO..........
lots of late 70's / early 80's stuff towers above modern music, particularly in speaking out about issues that still affect us massively today
Clash, Stranglers, Jam,

has anyone heard the new metallica song??? How can that come from the same band that wrote "master of puppets" or "one"....
80's & 90's was brilliant for music especially thrash metal which is what im a fan of the most.
metallica/slayer/machine head/pantera/sepultura/megadeth & fear factory all had their best releases in the 90's in my opinion.

like a very varied mix and have some fav's from Metallica, etc. but Rock & Heavy Metal rather than Thrash is on my radar
the likes of SLF, UK Subs, Sham 69, Damned, etc are all worth a look over - far too many Punk bands to mention

This one (Liddle Towers) was an anthem when we were kids. Got dragged home to my parents in a police car for singing it to a copper, after drinking too much cider as a teenager.
Their album Teenage Warning really was one of the very best to come from the Punk era.
Sadly the lead singer Mensi passed away last year aged only 65.

Upstarts were spot on
one of the few USA bands that seemed to 'get' Punk....

The music from that era was simply much better. You had $hit around then aswelll, but now the majority of it is $hit.

There must have been 5/6 different genre at that time , maybe there is now - it doesn't seem that way , maybe only a teenager would know

I like epically long songs played extremely well live. Don’t know how to link them but these include pink floyd comfortably numb pulse uncut version. Genesis Mama Wembley 1987
Dire straights telegraph road alchemy live. Metallica welcome home (sanitarium) live (take your pick, most live versions are incredible) Faith no more the real thing (live at Brixton or donnington reunion) The Prodigy (music for the jilted generation)
Usually go to Isle of Wight festival (funnily enough shreksta with a mate that used to live with Steve jones off of the sex pistols) and have seen some great bands live, last year standout being Muse knights of cydonia that closed the show.
Pete tong and his heritage orchestra were good as well. Primal Scream, great band live.
Snow Patrol better live than their recording, Run and Chasing cars live will make your hair stand on end even if your not really into them as the whole crowd sing. Sam Fender was impressive live. Far too many bands to mention really.
Foo fighters seen live several times and the stage presence of Mr Grohl live takes a LOT to beat, but a vid on the tube of learn to fly with 1000 drummers is worth watching.
