Me..... I kind of like being human or even a (human being) and not going the robotic/automated route!

Whether it happens to you this year or 5 years down the line, you will be driving a more automated vehicle. Yes your wife will be using a ***** when yours stops working

Irrelevant and you know it.

What do the scamera vans cost? What does it cost to maintain them? What does a fixed camera cost to buy? To maintain? Who pays for the camera sites to be built and at what cost?
What does it cost to process it? For someone to sit behind the camera in the van? To send out all the letters demanding money with menaces?

Yep, all about revenue. It must make a HELL of a lot of money to pay for that little lot, and even if it's 1% of YOUR time, there are people employed FULL TIME on it! AND it'll be a large bite out of the police budget, so stop with the bullsh!t.

That's why so many cameras are sited cynically. And you know that's true too

The idiotic replies on this thread slating Felix are laughable. Felix is simply pointing out your stupid ideas/reasons/arguments won't stand up in front of a judge if you wish to debate your overtaking manoeuvre that broke the speed limit and got you a ticket

A judge isn't interested in your personal opinions on road safety only did you break the law and did you have mitigating circumstances

Yes we all speed as i'm sure does Felix when not on duty but accept what Felix is saying - there is no excuse for it when in front of a judge.

OK, based on your argument - if no one speeds it will cut off this 'revenue stream' and we won't be able to fund it.
So, stick to the speed limits and you'll be a happy man.
Then you can concentrate more on moaning about wasps.

And how would you prefer speed enforcement to be done? Or are you happy that there is no enforcement on this?
At the next community meeting where the local residents want action over speeding motorist on a section of road?
Where you have a series of accidents or near misses on roads attributed to the speed of motorists?

All I'm suggesting is stick to the speed limits or just accept the fact that you take a chance if you go over this limit.
A bit like littering - put your rubbish in a bin, or accept the fact you take a chance of a fine by dropping it on the floor.

And once again you entirely miss the point:

It's all about money, NOT road safety.

It's really NOT defendable, yet you try.....wake up and smell the coffee.

Anonomous (sic): Ever SEEN mags or judges in action?

Used to be appalled some kids lower down the social spectrum would never bother to find a bin , till much later discovered they viewed it as job creation ...

Once sat on Doncaster Market while my youngest ate chips out of paper. When he'd finished, without being told, he walked 50 yds to put his waste in a bin.

Then we sat for another 15 minutes waiting for his mum. While there we witnessed one group of pensioners chuck their chip wrappers on the floor, and two more groups open and jettison wrappings from cig packets.

So what would you prefer? That the law wasn’t enforced? Maybe even that it simply didn’t exist at all?

Of course not, neil, please stop with the straw man arguments, eh?

We need a SENSIBLE law, so mototrway limits raised as was promised a few years ago.
We need cameras sited where they will do most good, not generate most cash.
We need limits looked at and adjusted if necessary, and cameras removed from enforcing "fake, un-needed limits".
We need to get the authorities to concenrtae less on speeding, and more on the REAL causes of accidents: bad driving, carelessness, not obeying the rules of the road, mobile phone use, even hands free, using satnav and internet while driving, etc etc.

But, of course, you can't just take a picture of those offences and stupidities and then send a letter demanding money with menaces.

It would need PROPER policing. Something there is very little of in all walks of life these days.

So if it was a straw man, why did it justify such a lengthy response?

None the less. By and large all you do is bitch and moan about the police/government/world, very rarely do you present actual alternatives.

The law was broken it will be down to the judge as to whether the mitigating circumstances were sufficient. Doing over 100mph I very much doubt it will be looked upon favourably as everyone knows that's the red line not to cross. It will be claimed he put his passengers and other road users lives at risk by doing that speed.

Throwing rubbish on the ground, or out of the car window, etc., goes against every fibre of my being. Akin to not putting your seatbelt on.

I can't believe people (and bloody Olds should bloody better know better! ) actually have no qualms about doing it. They're surely not even cognitively processing their actions?

People.

It's amazing how much rubbish lays on the side of motorways, do people throw their rubbish on the floor of their houses?

Speeding is part cause of accidents though - https://seriousaccidents.com/legal-a...car-accidents/

Do we just abandon anything speed related and concentrate on mobile phones etc

Cameras are sited for a whole host of reasons - generate cash is not one of them

And who has the final say on what the new 'adjusted speed limit' will be - and what happens if drivers break that one?

No, but you should concentrate alot more on poor driving standards, tailgating, dangerous overtaking, use of mobile phones is still rampant and needs to be stamped out.

I'm in the process of ordering the new BlackVue DR 900S dashcam. I'm sick to death of being nearly run off the road by inattentive drivers, doing anything other than concentrating on driving safely. I will then send video clips to the police. I can only hope they will act upon the video evidence and prosecute

Other offences are investigated and prosecuted as well as speeding.

I'm sure your video clips will be looked at, but you will need to go to court too if required.

I'm not self policing, I'm just passing on what I deem poor or worse onto the police. They will decide if it's worthwhile to pursue for penalty or prosecution. There is also a side benefit of protecting myself against false claims, we all know everyone is honest and doesn't tell porkies

I can seen where your coming from Andy, but as you have said it's a madhouse on the roads at the best of times, your going to spending more time with the plod, than with your family.

It's just the way it is in this modern age i'm afraid.....
