What an odd attitude, constantly playing down your own country's great achievements. The reason the Russians defeated the Germans is because they were constantly supplied by British sailors, which even they eventually admitted, but you choose to ignore that. It's fortunate for you that your countrymen had a lot more grit and self-belief than you seem to possess. Strange that a foreigner should think more highly of Great Britain than a Brit.

I really don't understand why you're taking issue with this.
I'd like to know what you are taking such offence too?
All I've done is state fairly basic historial facts. This is a subject of much interest to me, and it strikes me as odd that you are trying to insult me, for reasons I don't comprehend.
You've somehow equated pointing out facts with being unpatriotic, which is odd in the extreme.

Take a look at French history.
Now your average frenchman is VERY patriotic...hence the reason why their history now states that it was the French who liberated Paris and defeated the Germans in France...with a little help from their friends the Americans.
So if you tell them any "facts", you're not a patriot.
And don't even get me started on how many of 'em were supposedly in the resistance.....

Yes comparing how Hitler used the Olympics to distract from his politics to how Putin will use the World Cup in the same way. That is not saying Putin is the same as Hitler in any other respect. The comparison is spot on.

Why Jesse Owens? Hitler refused to shake hands with him but he shook hands with no other athletes either, not even Germans. Jesse Owens' poor treatment occurred in the USA, when, being black, he had to enter the White House via the back door not the front.
